Statistic:

- Gladbach won only 2 of the last 11 matches against Freiburg (2-4-5).
- In these 11 matches they were able to score 7 goals while scoring nothing in 6.
- Gladbach is in all competitions since 28 years after the winter break. Last time it was 86/87.
- Freiburg won only 1 of the last 13 road games (1-6-6).
- This was on 2.November, but they lost only 1 of the last 4 and this was to giant Bayern 0-2.
- New signing Petersen scored already a hat trick at his first game with his new team.

Werder Bremen - Hertha BSC Berlin

Statistic:

- The last time Hertha could celebrate a win in Bremen was 2006 with a 3-0 win.
- Since then, Bremen won all their 6 home games and they scored 17 goals and conceded 6.
- In 2014 Hertha was not able to win two times in a row, because of their weakness on the road.
- In 14 road games they were only able to win a single match, 4 draws and 9 defeats.
- Since Skripnik took over as Werder Coach they are unbeaten at home unter him (3-1-9).
- Hertha conceded in their last two games 9 goals and overall they have already 35 !!!
- Werder's attacker Selke scored in all is last three matches and has 2 assist as well.

Very important match for both sides. Bremen has the chance to come a bit more out of the red zone and on the other side they can with a win bring Hertha more and more in trouble. For this encounter Coach Skripnik maybe counts on the same successful eleven who did very well at the end of the last year. Nevertheless with Makiadi (African Cup), Prödl (injured) they miss two good guys but they signed with Vestergaard from 1899 Hoffenheim a new defender who maybe give his debut today. All other positions remain unchanged, this is the only position where Skripnik maybe change. Also important to see that Di Santo is full fit again and he can help the team.

Hertha has a lot of problems lately. They were much to weak on the road and can not bring much danger in their play. Normally they have the weapons with fast wings like Stocker, Schulz and Ben Hatira but if we take a look on their injury list it can be a big sign as well. They have to replace Hosogai (suspended), Baumjohann, Cicergi, Ben Hatira (are all suspended) and Kalou (African Cup). It is a huge blow above all some important players on the list what makes it not much easier for Coach Luhukay to find the right mix and balance in team.

I am very kenn on Bremen today. If we take a look back to the first match where Hertha dominated and controlled Werder easily and lead already 2-0 but after the break Bremen showed a real good reaction and comeback into the game to end up with a draw. I am sure that Bremen is aware from Hertha now and they have additional a good feeling at home from their last games what help too. The odd is a bit down already but I think the DNB chance is a good option for this encounter.

Bayer Leverkusen - Borussia Dortmund

Statistic:

- Leverkusen won not one of the last 7 home matches against Dortmund (0-4-3).
- Against no other team is Leverkusen waiting so long for a win, since 2007.
- Dortmund was the first time on bottom zone over the winter break and playing their 2nd weakest season.
- Leverkusen stands with 28 Points on third place now but it is an absolutely negative number.
- Since we have the 3 Points rule, no team has less Points after 17 Rounds as Leverkusen this time.
- The last 8 games against Leverkusen were all standard situations.
- Dortmund scored only 4 goals after free kicks or corners, so they are limited there.
- New signing Kevin Kampl played for Leverkusen youth already.

After Wolfsburg's win yesterday and the advantage of 9 Points to Leverkusen they have to look forward to get the 3 Points today that they can hold the pressure on the second placed team from Wolfsburg high. According to news, they have some players not available as with Son and Kruse are both at the Asia Cup and both are in the final and played against each other today. The Australian Kruse had the better outcome, he won the Asia Cup with Australia. Also wing Jedvaj is not ready after a muscle problem. In this case the positions from Jedvaj and Son must be replaced here. First on the wing can be Hilbert who has a lot of experience and in offensive line it can be Drmic who takes the place from Son. Some options for Schmitt here, he can play with two strikers Drmic and Kießling and two players behind with Calhanoglu and Bellarabi or he change to one striker and let Drmic play on the wing. All is possible. Hopefully their batteries are full again and we can expect an equal match from them as to begin of the season where they overcome Dortmund easily and had not much problems to control the game with their high pressing.

The team from Dortmund played their 2nd weakest first half of the season and they sit at the bottom now. For this reason they signed Kampl form Salzburg to get more action in their offensive play with his fast dribblings. Also they want to have some more options if Reus oder some others are not available to due injuries. They had a lot of absent players and this time again a lot of problems arrived in Dortmund. With Bender, Kehl and sometimes Gündogan they had not many central midfield players left. The first two are out for sure today, also Kuba is not ready. Kagawa missed the preparation because he was in Australia and played the Asia Cup with Japan. Aubameyang was in Africa to play the Cup with Gabun there but they are already out and he returns but is he ready? From warm weather into cold weather it is a huge step. Some changes happened anyway because with Langerak is one player with his national team and in this case Weidenfeller returns into the goal today. Also defender Socrates is back from injury and can play beside Hummels in central back. Central midfield is more difficult because they miss some here. It would be nice to see what Coach Klopp field there. Maybe Sahin and Gündogan, if he can play. Offensive is also open above all the attackers are not very good in front of the goal. Immobile has a lot to improve, also Ramos has not his best level and Aubameyang returns from African Cup recently. The biggest thing what was to see in friendlies is that they count more on defensive, they played several times 1-0 and tried not to allow much. This is the new philosophy from Klopp maybe and the key to get out of the red zone.

I expect a very open match here as both teams has a lot of class in their rows.

Saturday Update 2 !!!

Hamburger SV - 1.FC Köln

Statistic:

- In past years HSV played 7 times against Cologne and is was spectacle with 31 goals !!!
- Since 09/10 in no BL duels are more goals average as in this one 4,43
- But Hamburg 9 and Cologne 17 goals are not known for their scoring power this season.
- Both teams are one of the weakest sides in this category right now, and played already 4 times 0-0.
- Colonge won 3 of their last 5 road trips, they are much stronger there as they can go for counter.
- In first match after the break, Cologne was not able to win much, only 1 time in 2.BL to Aue 2-1.
- HSV had a lot of problems with promoted teams at least and they collected only 1 Point in 4 duels.
- The last 10 matches are as follows 2-2-6 (HSV), and they scored nothing in 6 from 10.



SC Freiburg - Eintracht Frankfurt

Statistic:

- In matches where Frankfurt stands on the pitch were spectacle with 68 goals this season so far.
- They scored 34 goals already what they did 93/94 at last. But they conceded a lot too with 34.
- Against no other team, Frankfurt has such a good record as against Freiburg.
- They won 11 from 23 games with Freiburg but they lost also 9 and draw 3.
- SC Freiburg is very weak at the end because they conceded already 5 goals in the last 3 minutes.
- With this bad period they lost already 10 Points in the last 3 minutes.
- According to the draw in last second against H96 they fall down to bottom place.
- SCF is the best team with 17 Points after 17 Rounds on bottom place, no one collected more.



VfB Stuttgart - Bor. M'Gladbach

Statistic:

- Gladbach is still in all 3 competitions active and this is the first time since 86/87.
- In this spectacular season they come in 3rd in league and was in semi cup final.
- VfB  is the weakest team at home with only 5 Points on their side in 8 matches.
- They never had such a weak stat at home like now ..... 4 goals scored only, 16 conceded.
- Gladbach was not able to get much on the road with only 2 win so far, 3 draws and 3 defeats.
- The last win away is still some time ago, on 8. Round they won in Hannover with 3-0.
- Wow, from the last 33 matches since 95/96 could Gladbach win only 3 against VfB (3-13-17).
- Only against Bayern Munich lost Gladbach more as against Stuttgart overall.
- In the last 8 BL games Gladbach was not able to keep a clean sheet what makes it difficult anyway.

Saturday Update 1 !!!

FSV Mainz 05 - SC Paderborn

Statistic:

- Both teams were on top after 4 Round but fall down huge and since then they have to fight.
- These teams have the longest winless run in BL so far with 9 and 7 games.
- Paderborn was not able to win much away from home (only Hamburg 3-0), 1-3-4.
- In this match Paderborn scored 3 times and in the other 7 road trips they scored also only 3 !!!
- Mainz is a team who can take the lead but they lost the most Points after leading (14).
- 10 from 14 Points they gave away in their own Arena.
- Key player Hofmann is back where they were unbeaten in 6 with him (3-3-0) without (0-6-5).
- Also they are not able to push in second half as they scored only 37% of their goals in 2nd half.
- On the other side Paderborn was extremely dangerous in 2nd half with 76% scored.

For both teams it is a big match as Mainz and Paderborn are standing in bottom half of the table and if they lose more Points it is getting more and more dangerous for them. It is also to see what team can find back on the level they had to begin of the season. Also a lot of injured players helped them not much before the winter break. At Mainz some of the key players are back like Hofmann who is an important player in midfield. SCP has a lot of problems at preparation as many players got injured and could not train much also in offensive they signed Lakic from Kaiserslautern for some days as they need an replacement for Ducksch who is out longer now.


FC Schalke 04 - Hannover 96

Statistic:

- H96 is hard to beat, they were able to kept a clean sheet 7 times already, last season only 6x.
- Also away from home they do better and lost only 1 of the last 5 (2-2-1).
- Under Coach Korkut Hannover was able to win 6 road games while in last 2 seasons they had only 5.
- Only Bayern Munich was able to collect more Points as Schalke 13 in the last games before the break.
- But S04 was winless in their last two home games. 1-2 against Cologne and 0-0 to HSV.
- From the last 22 matches to begin of the second half of the season, Schalke lost only 2 !!! (16-4-2).
- In the last 3 years Schalke won the opener, also 2013 to Hannover 5-4.
- Choupo Mouting is their best scorer and he has an excellent statistic right now.

It is an important match for both to come into the second half well as they have to play for some here. Schalke must look that they can close the gap more to the top and H96 do not want to lose the EL places. Schalke maybe with some problems to begin as I do not think that Choupo Mouting is absolutely ready after African Cup (maybe he is not in the squad for this game anyway) and also in defensive they signed Nastasic from ManCity who maybe needs time too. Santana is sold to Piräus yesterday what gives Coach Matteo less alternatives there. Keeper Fährmann got injured and will be replaced by Giefer today. The other positions remain unchanged as to last year. For H96 it looks like Coach Korkut counts on the same players like last match.

VfL Wolfsburg - Bayern München

This is the opening match from German’s top league and it is a big match anyway. The second placed team from Wolfsburg welcomes the leader and giant Bayern Munich. This can be an interesting match above all between these two teams. Wolfsburg had a lot of negative emotions to begin of their preparation to the second half of the season with the accident from midfielder Malanda. They tried to be as professional as they can and it can be that the team is working closer together now after such a big fatal incident. It is obvious that they want to play for Malanda and maybe think about him in every game. In preparation they had a lot of problems above all in the defensive where some players had some problems and could not train like Naldo and some of his team mates. They conceded also a lot while the offensive looked great above all Peresic was in great shape and scored a lot. Short before the match today they sold striker and important hard worker in team Olic to Hamburg but on the other side they are very close so sign Schürrle from Chelsea. 

As always Bayern Munich travelled to Qatar and worked very hard there under excellent conditions. It is almost the same as every year there. The team looked tired to the end of the last year but the batteries are full now again and they want to go for the next records. One of these records are conceded as less as they can (4 goals at the moment) and to be unbeaten (league) in one season, what is a big aim from them. The problems with injured and absent players is going better and better because Coach Guardiola welcomes Alaba, Badstuber and Benatia back in training. Ok Benatia had a hard time as he could not train always with some back problems. All the other players were ready and they made a great preparation, only the long term injured players are still not ready yet like Lahm, Thiago, Martinez …..  For this encounter they must replace Ribery who got injured in the last days and Rafinha who is out recently. It should not be a big problem at all as a lot of big guns must on bench anyway because the squad is very big and all can be replaced well.

Overall the balance is on Bayern Munich side and they did not lose much against Wolfsburg. They like to play against them and the last matches were always a clear thing. But in the last match in Munich Wolfsburg was very close to get rewarded as their play was very good and the pressing as well. It can be a good formula to press and attack from beginning on but on the other side Bayern has such a good control in their game that they can overcome Wolfsburg with the fast passing. If Wolfsburg stands high it can be risky as well but they have to try anything to hurt Bayern anyway.

RB Leipzig - 1860 München

This is the last match 2014 in Germany what takes place in Leipzig. The last match of the year is important for both. The situation is as follows. The newcomer has the chance to close the gap from 5 Points to the promotion places to 2 Points with a win while 1860 can leave the red zone with a draw and overcome Aalen there.

In Leipzig are a lot of problems in the past games above all in offensive they had trouble but Coach Zorninger has his most important player back this evening. Yussuf Poulsen is absolutely key player for Leipzig and after his absent the offensive do not exist, they produce nothing and were not dangerous as well. Beside him is expected captain Frahn who is not in his best shape because he searches for his form the whole season already. Behind both plays Kaiser and all three should build up the magic triangle which was key in their promotion season.  Also midfield player Kimmich is ready again after his injury and it speaks a lot that almost the same starting lineup stands on the pitch as to promotion season. Only Jung is suspended after his yellow red card against Aalen in the last game. Probable they change a bit on the back wings, Heidinger move from the right to the left while Teigl comes in for the last open position in the starting lineup.

The situation is worse in Munich and they have to improve a lot but their play is awful and they can not create much or put any pressure on the opponent. Maybe it can be better if they play away as they must not be so active and make the match. Coach von Ahlen is still on bench after 3 wins and 8 defeats in the past, maybe his first draw under the week 1-1 to Kaiserslautern helped him. But it is very uncertain if he is on the sideline in new year again. Nevertheless they have to make the best today and for this he can count on his captain Schindler in central back again. This means that Kagelmacher must on bench but he is even unstable and not a big lose here. More a problem are the absent from injured Rama and suspended Stark. Both can be replaced by Claasen who had a good performance against Kaiserlsautern after he came in, the other player is Weigl who is back from suspension and can help the team again. Overall there are not many alternatives left on bench what makes it not much easy for von Ahlen as the pressure on starting eleven are not high from bench players. 

1.FC Kaiserslautern - SV Sandhausen

Despite the wins form all their opponents above the take Kaiserslautern stands under pressure today because they must win this one that they can close the gap to one Point. This is very important according to the start next year, otherwise they have to run behind and they have invest a lot of power then what is not a available in the end and they have also to hope that the opponents fail. But they can count on their home castle where they got 21 from 27 Points and they are unbeaten there. The opponent Sandhausen was not so successful on the road, they were only able to get 7 Points in 8 matches. Also they conceded a late lose against Darmstadt under the week 1-2. Therefore they have to look back a bit as the team behind coming closer and this means that they are sooner or later involved again in relegation battle if they do not collect some Points.

Coach Runjaic must changes his team because Jenssen got injured and he must be replaced. Compared to the last match in Munich 1-1 to 1860 he must change in central midfield. Jenssen played beside Karl but this time Karl got a new partner. This means that Demirbay moves back but it is a doubt as he has some illness in the last days. If he can not play Runjaic is thinking to move Orban form central back forward as partner from Karl there and bring Heubach in for the open position in central back. But if Demirbay can play we have an open position in offensive what makes more sense to bring there Younes or Matmour who can make some dribbling and bring a lot of danger with their agile play. Nevertheless he can play also with two strikers but this is not in his mind. He counts more on one attacker and a compact midfield behind.

The situation was getting better in Sandhausen but their injury list is still long with Achenbach, Hübner, Jim Patrick Müller, Zillner and Max Müller. It is also a big doubt that the injured players return who was not in the squad against Darmstadt under the week. These were with former Kaiserslautern player Wooten, Thiede and Striefler also some important guys. The best chance for a place in the squad has Wooten who was ill but he is only on bench first. Striefler has some shoulder problems but is maybe also ready while Thiede must be replaced from Bieler again. Bieler was the man in first match against Kaiserslautern with his late equalizer 1-1. For sure in the squad and in the starting lineup is Paqarada who was suspended against Darmstadt. This is a big plus for the defensive line form Sandhausen as he made the job very well and they have only him available on this position.

I am very pleased with the home performance and strength from Kaiserslautern, therefore I am taking them. It is because Sandhausen is a weak traveller and they were not in good shape against Darmstadt. He backed them there but they were not able to get as dangerous as they can although they hold long a draw. The biggest problem for them is to score what should be a must if they want to get here anything. With only 8 goals scored in 8 games on the road it is hard to get much. The supporters from Kaiserslautern are also great and they push the team very well.

Sunday Matches 1.BL

Hertha BSC Berlin - 1899 Hoffenheim

Statistic:

- Hertha was with two goals up in Frankfurt but conceded in 68 seconds 2 goals to end up 4-4.
- This is a new record in BL and they are the only team who failed in such a situation at minute 89.
- Hoffenheim conceded in their last 7 matches incredible 18 goals.
- In the first 7 matches it was only 9 !!!!

Werder Bremen - Borussia Dortmund

Before Christmas Bremen has to invest all that they can leave the bottom of the table and the chance is their opponent are only 1 Point above them, therefore with a win they can overcome Dortmund and bring them in a very difficult situation over the winter break. At home they are much stronger as on the road and they were only beaten from Cologne 1-0 and Schalke 3-0, all the other matches they draw or won. The most important Point here is that they are able to come back after the fall behind as they showed in some games already. What is also very clear, if they do not score, they lose as we saw in both results above. With Di Santo, Prödl are two important players are not available, Caldirola is suspended after the red card against Gladbach but it not such important here. New Coach Skripnik counts more on youngsters as on experienced players and they did a good job so far. They are still fresh and unstressed and have the motivation to show their strength. Also playmaker Junuzovic is in good form above all his free kicks are great and he is always able to score at the moment. If they can play as compact as they can and go for some good counter attacks they can hurt Dortmund here anyway.

Wow, what a downfall from Dortmund, they are only 1 Point above the bottom and Christmas seems to be a bad one for them this year. All talk that they are to strong and their squad is to good that they get relegated but only talking help not much and bring no Points. They have to improve a lot if defensive or offensive. Once again Klopp has to change his defensive line as with Subotic is the next defender out suspended. For him is Ginter the last man they have available for defensive after Socrates is out too. In offensive hurts that Reus and Micky is out while Immobile and Ramos are searching for their form and maybe do not know the system from Klopp anyway. Both need time but the time is not there above all in such a critical situation. Away from home they scored only 8 goals in 8 matches but conceded already 15 !!! Too many mistakes allow not more, it was also against Hertha or Wolfsburg where they missed a lot of their potential.

Statistic:

- Dortmund has not problems in the last 6 matches, they won all and have scored 16 goals.
- Before this 6 wins, Dortmund had a hard time against Bremen and they won only 2 in a row.
- Dortmund is playing their weakest season ever since 87/88.
- Also Bremen was only one time weaker 74/75 at as the moment.
- Bremen conceded in both last home games against Dortmund 5 goals.
- This happened never, if Bremen or Dortmund played, or any other club.
- Dortmund collected in the last 7 road games only 1 of the possible 21 Points.
- BvB is with only 4 Points the weakest team on the road.
- Aubameyang is top scorer in BL with 18 Points beside De Bryne from Wolfsburg.

I said it already, talking is one thing but the key is on the pitch. The heads from Dortmund's players are not free for this battle in my eyes and the HC from +1 is huge for an relegation battle. The bookmakers are all meaning that this is the same Dortmund from last season or last years, never. They have huge problems at the moment and although Bremen is not good too I can not see them losing here with 2 goals or more. Bayer Leverkusen - Eintracht Frankfurt

The "Werkself" from Leverkusen playing a good season, they go through the group phase in CL while aiming to get the next CL spot this season. The position is good and they are very close behind 2nd placed team from Wolfsburg, in this case all is possible for them. Some key players from Leverkusen are in great form. Above all the offensive is great with free kick hero Calhanoglu,  quick Son and Bellarabi and striker Kießling up front. They have a lot of potential for goals and at home they have already scored 17 in 8 games what is a good number. The defensive play is well but also a big shaky and in some times are hard above all Spahic is a robust player who is always near a yellow or red card. They had also some luck in recent matches but this is the business anyway.

The team with the most spectacle at the moment is Frankfurt, they score and concede like hell. The team from Coach Schaaf is always very offensive minded and as I wrote already under the week with Meier and Seferovic they have two good attackers who are always dangerous. You never know but if they get the chance they use it. Also the wings are working hard and creating a lot. The only big miss is Aigner who got the 5th yellow card against Hertha and is out here. He must be replaced, Piazon maybe is the next one who comes in and get a chance here. The defensive line is very unstable and they produce mistakes after mistakes. Above all after free kicks they are very easy to beat, what Hertha BSC showed who scored 3 goals after free kicks or corners. The defensive is getting not much better as they have to change here too, because Russ was injured and replaced by Madlung against Hertha already but he has an awful day.

On the other side the counter attacks from Frankfurt are always hard to defend and if they come in rolling they are unstoppable with Meier and Sefereovic. Also Stendera can play good free kicks or corners what is also a good weapon for Frankfurt. This match has the most potential for goals !!!!

Fortuna Düsseldorf - Union Berlin

The last weeks were only average for Düsseldorf where they could only collect 4 Points from the last 5 matches. Compared to the weaker weeks they have to improve and bring home the last match to have a good position for the start next year. But it would be not an easy game as with Union comes a team to Düsseldorf who is inform and has collected some Points and showed a really uptrend. Union has won 5 of their last 9 games and they are aiming to climb up more after an awful season start.

Düsseldorf’s Coach Reck has to change some compared to the last game in Braunschweig where they lost 0-1. Above all in central midfield he has two players not available with Pinto who saw his fifth yellow card and is suspended here and it was only a short comeback after a long injury but they have to life with it now. The next one is Avevor who got injured and is out, of course. For this reason the places must be field new and the candidates are Gartner and Bodzek, both are solid players and they know the position well, have they played several times there. The other move is that Bellinghausen plays on left back wing while weak Liendl take the open position as offensive wing. Otherwise after the last awful performances Liendl must on bench maybe. A big surprise was additional that Benschop sit only on bench against Braunschweig but this time he comes back into the starting lineup, also the again fit striker Pohjanpalo is ready. In this case Hoffer and Erat are both out of the starting lineup. 

Union is doing well and the self confidence is back what they need in Düsseldorf today. Coach Düwel has made some good decisions in the past and he let play all his excellent defenders. For this reason he let the third play on the back wing with Schönheim. This time it can be some rotation because with Trimmel is the left back wing out suspended and this means a new defensive line. We have some ideas how Düwel can field his line. Puncec can move from central back to the right wing while Schöheim move into the middle and play beside Leistner while Parensen takes the position on the left wing. In offensive there are no changes expected but if the injured Thiel can give his ok it is not sure if Düwel counts on Skrzybski or Thiel. Whatever he decides both have the class for fast counter attacks and this is what Union tries today.  

FSV Mainz 05 - Bayern München

The starts was average as they was not able to came into the EL Group phase. After this the season started better and they was on a good way but in the last games they showed nothing special and they had a lot of problems in defensive and also in offensive. They are not so strong as to begin and this is maybe only one man who was the key for them. With Hofmann who came on loan from Dortmund was Mainz much better and he was their key player. After he got injured the problems arrived in Mainz. Against Bayern it is clear that they want to play more defensive minded and also bring one more defensive player in the starting lineup. This can be a defensive line with 5 defenders and a compact midfield with only one striker up front.

Bayern is rolling through the league and they are overcoming all their opponents easy. Of course the potential is huge and the players in their squad are great. In the last weeks Rode did a great job and he is fresh and have the power to walk on while the others have some problems above all in last game against a very defensive playing Freiburg. The batteries are empty but they have to go one time for the win and invest all they have available then they can go into a well deserved break to fresh up and come back stronger again. With Lewandoswki, Alonso and Benatia have they some players doubtful. For them Boating, Shakiri and Schweinsteiger can come into the starting lineup. As mentioned this is the last time Ribery, Robben, Götze and Müller have to push in offensive while the defensive should have not problems against a very limited Mainz offense.

Statistic:

- Against no other team lost Mainz so often as to Bayern Munich (11 times).
- And they conceded a lot of goals too with 43.
- Bayern conceded only 3 goals in the first 16 league matches this season.
- This is a new record for Bayern, former hero was VfB Stuttgart with 4 goals in Season 03/04.
- Mainz did not win since 8 league games and they scored less (6) as to begin of the season (12).
- They conceded also more (14) as to begin of the season (7).
- Both teams are the only one in BL who conceded not a single goal after counter attacks.

Eintracht Frankfurt - Hertha BSC Berlin

Eintracht Frankfurt won 2 matches in a row and they are doing very well, they are always able to score some goals above all the duo Meier and Seferovic is working very good together. Also the offensive wings with Aigner and Stander has the pace to create some dangerous situations. Coach Schaaf has found his lineup now and this is a good sign for Frankfurt. Although they lost in Hoffenheim they are on a good way. Hildebrand is in goal again after Wiedwals and Trapp got injured but nevertheless it is not such a weak points anyway. The only thing is that the defensive line allow some and this is a good sign for goals.

The team from Berlin Hertha won against Dortmund and come to Frankfurt with some self confidence in their bag what should help them to continue the way and get some points against the relegation battle. After Luhukay move back to Schieber in attack the team is doing better again. This means that Kalou is again on bench while the fast Ben Hatira and Beerens should assist him. In defensive they looked better in the past but against the power from Frankfurt's offensive they can get some problems here.

Statistic:

- Hertha won 25 of 52 BL games against Frankfurt.
- After winning against Dortmund 2-0 and Bremen 5-2 Frankfurt is able to win third time.
- 3 wins in a row is long time ago, about 7 years now.
- Only Schalke has with 21% a better number to score as Frankfurt with 19% and Hertha 18%.
- Alexander Meier scored already 10 goals and he is on fire at the moment.
- Schaaf like to play against Hertha, he won 15 times as Coach already against them.
- If Frankfurt take the lead against Hertha, they won ....
- The last two games were won by 7-2 goals from Eintracht.
- Frankfurt conceded already 10 goals in the last 15 minutes of the game.
- Hertha lost 4 of their last 5 road trips.

I am sure that both score here and the third goal is not far away above all Frankfurt has a lot of potential at the moment what make me very confident here.

Bor. M'Gladbach - Werder Bremen

This encounter produce goals and this time the situation is clear that there are goals again. The offensive is working very well for Gladbach and they have the weapons all ready for this encounter. With the strong and fast lineup up front like Hahn, Kruse, Herrmann and Rafael they can create a lot and I am sure that they can beat this weak defensive line from Bremen who allow a lot in recent games. After conceding 3 against Hannover and in the last 2 road games 7 the situation is not solved for Bremen in some days, so they must continue the way they can and this is to be as good as they can. With Prödl they have an important defender out what makes the things not much easy for them anyway. Also keeper Wolf was injured and he is maybe fit again and is back in goal, otherwise the young Strebinger must play again what is also a key fact. In attack Coach Skripnik put up some youngsters in the past and they play fresh without any pressure and helped them in last games to get a points, this can maybe be a good sign that they can overcome Gladbach in some situations as well as they are very quick.

Statistic:

- Bremen has won only 1 of the last 9 BL games with Gladbach (1-2-6).
- This happened 2010 in October when they won 4-1.
- Bremen has collected 2 Points in their last 15 road games if they face a top 4 team.
- The last win was again 2010 when they could win in Schalke 2-0.

I like the match up here, Gladbach with great offensive can score while Bremen has problems in defensive and their defensive play. This speaks for goals and therefore I put the pick up here.

Erzgebirge Aue - 1.FC Nürnberg

The second half of the season begins now and for Aue it is important to get most Points as they can before the winter break. They have to improve a lot and try to come out of the danger zone and the bad situation they are now. The gap should be not to big to have a chance to avoid relegation what looks hard at the moment. On the other side Nürnberg coming to Aue with a lot of self confidence and motivation. After two wins in a row they have hope to get back in promotion fight but for this they have to win here again. Nevertheless under new Coach Weiler they won 3 of the 4 matches and showed a really uptrend.

Aue’s Coach Stipic has still the trust although he got only 3 Points from the last 7 winless matches. For today he maybe count on the same lineup as against Heidenheim where the team did a great job but was not able to reward them as they waste with their good opportunities they had. In the last match Stipic tried to put up a very offensive minded team with only one central midfield player and an offensive row with 4 players. In this formation they played well and he wants to try this again today. They get more attempts on goal and if they are more consistent they score more. If their opponent allows again so many opportunities must be seen but they try it at least.

With the second win on the road last weekend the hope comes back to Nürnberg to get back into promotion race if they continue like the last games. The trust in their strength is back anyway but they should win both of the last games to start the attack in February to the top. Coach Weiler did a great job and he brought the team forward but it must be seen for a longer period now, not only for 3-4 matches. He has to change the starting lineup as with Bulthuis the back wing is out suspended and for him is Pinola the first option to start here. All the other positions remain unchanged after the last successful game. Although midfield player Koch has some weak games in the past, he remains in starting lineup. All eyes look on former Aue player Sylvestr who scored already the winning goal in first game when Nürnberg won 1-0. He wants to hurt his old team mates again and help his new team.

According to the offensive style from Aue now and the good form from Nürnberg it is not so obvious that this encounter see goals. The line is set a little bit lower here what makes it interesting for me. For this reason I put up a bet on OVER here.

SV Sandhausen - SV Darmstadt 98

Sandhausen has 20 Points on their side and they are looking forward to remain in 2.BL and go into their 4th year there. For this they have to collect some more Points above all before the break that the pressure is getting not to big if the season starts again in February. According to table situation they are only 5 Points ahead of the red zone and this is not much at the moment, a bad run can turn things around immediately. Their opponent is one of the surprise teams this season beside Ingolstadt. After Darmstadt got promoted in two incredible games against Bielefeld they are doing a great job there. The team is close to the top with 29 Points and can with a win climb up to second place what is amazing. After a long run without a win away from home they got the first one last weekend against bottom team St. Pauli. Of course they want to continue and go for the next one after 6 draws and only 1 defeat on the road.

After 3 successful games with 5 Points Sandhausen’s Coach Schwartz plans not many changes if system or personal. Only on the left back wing he has to change as with Paqaranda is a player unavailable suspended. This means that he has to search for the right replacement as with Achenbach is the next player injured not ready. The candidates are Kister, Knoll and Pfertzel for this position but the experience speaks clear for Pfertzel here. Some more options are in the squad as with Jovanovic returns a striker after long injury time but he is on bench first also Adler is on bench but a great option for the game in running.

It would be not a big surprise if Coach Schuster trusts his successful eleven from Hamburg who managed the first away win. For the injured Kempe who is out for the rest of the year played Ivana there on the wing and he made his job well. For him can play also youngster Biada and Sirigu but it is not need and in this case Schuster wants to change as less as he can and allow his well balanced team a good feeling as all know what to do.

I expect a close match here, both teams are hard to play. Sandhausen lost only 1 of the last 7 and at home they are much stronger as on the road. Of course Darmstadt is high flying but on the road they won only 1 from 8, this was last weekend when they beat St. Pauli 1-0 but they showed nothing special in this game and it was only due to a big fault from Pauli’s defender Sobiech who allowed them the winning goal. On the other side they are hard to beat with only 1 defeat on the road but they never were favorite on the road and against a hard fighting Sandhausen I doubt that they should be favorite here. For this reason I have to take the home side ……

Hannover 96 - FC Augsburg

We can expect a big match here. Hannover had some problems with their defensive where they had a lot to do and they conceded a lot of goals as written below. They have to improve in this part of the team and Coach Korkut has to work on it anyway. In offensive they are not so bad and they are scoring like hell, Hoffenheim 3, Wolfsburg 1, Bremen 3 .... these are all not bad numbers. The offensive is still working. The only think they have to work is that they must be more compact as in some of these matches. They are known for their home strength above all in recent years where they were very hard to beat in their home stadium, this season they have already three defeats but it was against Wolfsburg, Leverkusen and Gladbach who are all above Hannover and they have much more class as they at the moment. This match is a different one and they can get back on track at home after two defeats in a row. No fresh injuries, therefore they can count on the same like last weekend.

Wow wow wow, what a run from Augsburg, they were unbeaten in 5 home games which they won all in a row and they won also the last two road games with a bit of luck. Nevertheless they have the Points on their side and they can look forward to get as most as they can because they talk only to avoid relegation, if they have reached this goal, they can look for new aims this season but at the moment they want only reach the 40 Points as far as they can. The fighting spirit is big and they team is working well but can they continue in the last days of the year. They had a good first half against Bayern but in second half after the first goal Bayern was one or two step to high for them. Coach Weinzierl is an excellent coach and he put up some good systems and the players follow him blind. This is all very good but after the luck in Stuttgart where a man was send off and also a penalty for them to win the match who was doubtful, also in Cologne they had a really bad first half but won in the end after a reflected shot. Of course you have to work hard to bring luck on your side but it was there huge .......

Statistic:

- Augsburg is on the way to a new record but they need 4 Points from the last 2 games.
- The best number was 28 Points where they avoid relegation and overcome Düsseldorf 13/14.
- Augsburg won never against Hannover so far, they are 0-3-3.
- Hannover conceded in the last 4 league games 3 goals or more.
- This happened last time 1988 when they had such a run, also 4 matches in a row.
- If Augsburg take the lead they do not give away any point so far.
- If Hannover take the lead they give away only two Points, the same number as giant Bayern.
- Both Coaches are very young or they are the youngest in BL (Korkut 40 and Weinzierl 39).
- Both made their license at same time 2010/11.


Although Augsburg is a taff opponent I am sure that Hannover 96 lose again at home. They are losing 2 in a row and Augsburg won two i a row .... Augsburg invest a lot and the power should be not there again for a big fight. If H96 can control Baier in midfield who is important for Augsburg's play and also the wing Werner they have good chances to win this one. I like Hannover DNB here and I am sure that they do not lose this one again at home.

Bayern München - SC Freiburg

After the weekend is clear that Bayern Munich is the half time Champion in "Bundesliga". They are walking through the league and no one can stop them. Before the season many have talked that they are not so strong because after the World Cup most of their players are tired and need some time if they are back to normal level. They expect a lot of problems until the winter break, but where are the problems? They are not there, they win and win and win and also the defensive line is absolutely unbeatable. They conceded only 3 in 15 matches now. Hard to believe but this strength from Bayern is incredible this season. They are maybe stronger as last year and all what Guardiola do or did is going into success. It is not out if he wants to play again with he strongest available lineup or rotate a bit for this encounter but they are not weaker anyway. In the last games Rode made a really good performance and is an absolutely alternative for Guardiola now. Also Schweinsteiger is back after long injury. Of course, they have a few out with Lahm, Thiago, Alaba, Martinez, Pizarro ..... but if they are back .......

In Freiburg they are always fighting against relegation, of course some seasons they are doing very well but for this all must be build up well and all the signed players must play a good role in their system. This time Coach Streich said that after they lose some players in summer that they play against relegation and he was right. They have a lot of problems above all the offensive is harmless and they need to many attempts for a goal or in defensive they make to many easy mistakes what lead to goals. The structure is good there but they are only a hard working small club who has to fight more as other clubs and the budget is low anyway. In Munich they did not get much in recent years and it looks like that they come here and play the 90. minutes and drive home then. Ok, Coach Streich said that he wants to hurt Bayern but at the moment it is impossible ........

Statistic:

- Robben has 117 BL matches for Bayern and he scored 64 goals and made 34 assists, 2 left for 100.
- Since 1996 3-1 is Freiburg winless in 24 games against Bayern München (0-5-19).
- But the record has Gladbach, when they need 26 matches to beat Leverkusen.
- Bayern Munich has the best defense from all top leagues in Europa.
- Freiburg could only score 15 goals in 15 matches and this is one of the weakest number in BL.
- Guardiola makes his 50. match as Coach against Freiburg today, he has an average from 2,63 Points.
- This is the best number from all Coach in BL ever and he lost only 2 of these matches (41-6-2) !!!

Eintracht Braunschweig - Fortuna Düsseldorf

The second half of the season starts today with the top match in 2.BL between two promotion candidates Braunschweig and Düsseldorf. After 17 Rounds are played both teams has not disappointed the experts and they are close to the top and with a good second half of the season they can still climb up and dream to get promoted. To begin it was hard for Braunschweig and they lost a lot of ground to the top but with a winning streak from 5 matches with 5 wins they were on 2nd place but fall down after they got only 1 Point from the last two. They are now 2 Points behind 3rd place and this is nothing in this close league and should not be a problem at all but they have to come back on track now. On the other side was Düsseldorf very close to the leader Ingolstadt but they has a three match run where they collected only 1 Point and this put them out of the top 3. After this they start winning again at the weekend in Frankfurt with a 2-0. They have one Point more on their side as Braunschweig but they are close to the top 3 anyway.

Braunschweig's Coach searched long time for the right lineup and balance, he has found it in recent matches but he changed in last game against Union in central midfield where Pfitzner played instead of Theuerkauf. It is more as possible that he change back to normal lineup and let all the same as to the winning times. Also in offensive no changes expected but Nielsen had a few weak matches recently and the alternatives are there with Kruppke, Bakenga or Hochscheidt who is back after a long injury time. If they can bring their home strength on the pitch today it is hard to beat them but Düsseldorf is one of the best away team and this makes it so dangerous.

After the win against FSV Coach Reck plans no important changes before this encounter today. This means that he trusts the starting lineup from weekend again. Before the game against FSV he made some changes and move Liendl from the wing into the middle where he played much better as in the past and it was maybe a key fact. Also a good sign was that Pohjanpalo was out for the match in Frankfurt what let Benschop move forward in central attack where he had a good performance. But the most important fact was the return from central midfield player Pinto who gave Fortuna more structure and he was the man in midfield for the speed and passing in their game.

Both teams had matches under the week and for this they can maybe rotate a bit as they have the next match ahead in two or three days. Both coaches are trying to find the best way to go through the last 3 matches in one week. They have to safe power as it is hard in the last week before the winter break. A lot can be decided in these days therefore they have to go for the win both anyway. The offensive rows from both let us expect a big entertaining game and hopefully with a lot of goals too.



Statistic:

- Bost teams have made the most games in 2014/15 Season ... 25.
- Against no other opponent scored Bayer so many goals in BL (120).
- Leverkusen won 18 times at home against BMG, only to Lautern and Schalke also so much.

Augsburg is high flying at the moment and they are doing a really great job. They talk only to get as much Points as they can to avoid relegation. They are on a good way nevertheless but sooner or later their run stop I am sure. In recent two games they have come from behind and they were lucky to win in Cologne after a reflected shot from Esswein. This time the opponent is bigger as the last two like Hamburg and Cologne which both have problems. Despite the big class difference Coach Weinzierl is offensive and talked that this was not lucky to win against Bayern last year, they want to do it again and hurt Bayern. Of course it is possible but last time Bayern played in Augsburg with a mixed team and a lot of youngsters.

Bayern is rolling if League or Champions League, they are doing their job and they are going from record to record. For this encounter Coach Guardiola has a lot more option because Schweinsteiger is back and after Rode made two good games he is an option for the starting lineup anyway. It can be that some players get a rest and so Höjberg plays. Also Schweinsteiger for Alonso can be but I doubt that Schweinsteiger go two games so short after his long injury over the full distance. More speaks for the same lineup as against Leverkusen. If they take this game serious they win this one. They are coming more focused to Augsburg as last time and this is a key fact here anyway.

Hertha BSC Berlin - Borussia Dortmund

Interesting game ahead above all if you take a look at the results from both teams in the past. Hertha did not well at home and Dortmund is a big disaster away from home so far. Ok, Hertha has not the class from Dortmund but before the season they talked that they have a lot of potential above all with the new signings they want to play in midfield of the table or maybe come closer to the top but nothing like this happen. They are far away from a good season and therefore they have to look forward for better times. Coach Luhukay has to find the right mix now otherwise they come more and more in trouble and this is not what they want.

On the other side Coach Klopp said that they have to fight to get out of the bad situation but if players like Micky can not improve it is hard. Also some missing players like Reus hurt Dortmund in their offensive play. They play good but in the end if they conceded a goal it is all gone from them and they fall back to old times. The team has not the balance and the self confidence right now to overcome their opponents. It is a long way and maybe the right time for their first away win here as with Hertha they have the right opponent with a lot of problems too.

Eintracht Braunschweig - Union Berlin

After a six match winning streak Eintracht Braunschweig lost last weekend to Karlsruhe 0-1 but they want to hold the pressure on the other teams high and therefore they have to return on winning way today. The task is not as easy as they mean because with Union they face a team who has an uptrend in the last matches and they came to Braunschweig with two wins in a row in their bag. For Union it is important to walk on and get as much Points as they can to hold the distance big to the red zone.

Compared to the last match in Karlsruhe, Coach Lieberknecht plans no changes although some of his offensive players did not convince much. There is a lot to improve above all the attacker duo Nielsen and Ryu missed all in the last game and therefore they were not able to score in this encounter. Nevertheless Nielsen is set to play anyway while Ryu has good performances in the past and he got the trust from Coach now. This means both Kruppke and Bakenga sit on bench again but they hope for some minutes and maybe for some good actions if they are on the pitch to help the team and make some noise. Good news for Lieberknecht as well is that Hochscheidt returns first time after his injury on Round 1 into the squad and gives him some options more. Of course he is not really ready but he is there again.

Union is doing well in the past matches but they have to change here because with Leistner they have one player suspended and his position in central back plays Schönheim today. He know this very well, was he the guy who played there for long time after Leistner overcomes him. The other things are all speaking for the same lineup as last weekend although the coach talk in an interview about 3 attackers what is a bit to much maybe. This means that Brandy comes into the starting lineup after his illness and suspension and let Quiring move on the wing. But it speaks more that he is on bench first as with Polter and Skryzbski they have two inform strikers at the moment and they are hard to replace if you take last performances.

1899 Hoffenheim - Hannover 96

1899 Hoffenheim is on a huge downtrend, in the last games they got not much and they fall back to old times from last season. They did really well to begin of the season and the defensive line was on a good level and allowed not much, in recent matches they are far away from this form. They conceded like hell and this was not what Coach Gisdol expect. They have to improve a lot now and also bring their offensive rolling after a big disaster in Dortmund where they has not a single change. It is up to Gisdol now to find the right mix and system against an opponent who comes to Hoffenheim with 3 wins in the bag.

Eintracht Frankfurt comes form 3 wins in a row and also with a lot of self confidence to Hoffenheim. The offensive line has a lot like Seferovic and Meier who did a good job but also Aigner and Inui and Stendera. Maybe Coach Schaaf has find his eleven and he counts again on them. Defensive is a big shaky but offensive is rolling and this was the key in recent games. If they can hold this level alive it is not obvious that they get here some.

- But they conceded already 26 and this is also one of the weakest number in BL at the moment.
- 1899 lost only 1 of the last 11 BL home matches (7-3-1).
- The only defeat was at Round 11 against Cologne with 3-4.


The home side can count on all their players, none of them is out and this gives Coach Gisdol a lot of options. Possible is to play with two attackers here but also some other options are possible as I said already. Sure is maybe that Szalai move into the starting lineup again.
The situation is not so good for Frankfurt as they have to replace already the first keeper Trapp but this time his replacement Wiedwald is out too what brings Hildebrand back into the goal of a BL team. Of course he has a lot of experience but he has no praxis in the past and this can be a big disadvantage maybe. The rest will be unchanged but they have not much alternatives left as they have a lot of players injured out already.
