SC Freiburg - Hertha BSC Berlin

- Hertha won 50% of their BL-matches against Freiburg (8-5-3).
- From 8 matches in Freiburg won Hertha incredible 6 by 1 draw and 1 lost.
- But Hertha won only won from their last 13 BL matches on the road (1-6-6).
- Hertha is waiting since 5 matches for an away success, the is the longest run from all BL teams.
- SC Freiburg had an average from 1,2 goals conceded, this season they have 2,2 at the moment!!!
- They did not lose a single home match when they played on Sunday (4-2-0).
- On the other side Hertha did not win if they must play on Sunday (0-3-1).
- Freiburg's offensive worked well in the past and scored in all their recent 7 matches at least one.

With Hedenstad, Mujdza, Darida, Pilar and Terrazzino they miss a few today.
Hertha only with Baumjohann and Ndjeng two of their squad.

What's new for Freiburg this season. Of course, I said it already that they lost a lot of players and all of them very important for their play. Nevertheless they have to work with the guys who are there and Coach Streich must bring the best possible lineup and system on the pitch. The defensive work is not the same from last year as you can see on the numbers above and it could not be with new players, of course. Also they have a lot of matches now and this is the next key fact what makes it not much easier for them with their small squad. On Tuesday they played in EL where they took the lead 2-0 but with a lot of mistakes they did them not a favor and played only 2-2 in the end.

Newcomer Hertha is back in BL and they managed to start better as two years ago. Coach Luhukay is a very experienced Coach and he knows exactly what is to do. He motivates his team very well and he had also a good tactic for their play. They lost their last matches against Stuttgart but they were absolutely unlucky in this one, they should have won 2,3,4-1 but this is football and sometimes you have such days. Therefore they want to get the Points back today and against a tired side from Freiburg it can be a clear advantage that they could prepare the whole week for this encounter.



VfB Stuttgart - Eintracht Frankfurt

- It is not the best opponent for Frankfurt, they won only one from their last 12 vs. VfB (1-2-9).
- Eintracht's new top striker Kadlec had 3 goals and 1 assist in his first 3 matches so far.
- Stuttgart's top man is Maxim at the moment with 2 goals and 3 assist.
- VfB Stuttgart allowed to much in their last 17 matches, they could not keep a clean sheet in 16 !!!
- Eintracht Frankfurt lost only 2 of their last 9 starts on the road.

Unavailable players for VfB: Niedermeier, Didavi, Leitner, Rojas.
Eintracht miss four but they are all very important with Oczipka, Meier, Schwegler, Rosenthal.

Wow new coach Schneider celebrated two wins with his team in the past and it looks like that they are on a good way now. They missed the EL spot due to the knock out in qualification against Rijeka but in BL they showed better performances. They can concentrate now on Bundesliga and also on Cup where they have to play against Freiburg next week. Overall the team understand Coach Schneider immediately and they work well together what was not the case with Labbadia in the end. Success is back but they have to continue their way anyway.

EL starter Frankfurt made his job and won their home match against Bordeaux even if the french rested 7-8 regulars. Despite this they had a good comeback after many years on the international stage. Overall Coach Veh has formed a very good team and they are very good at the moment, to beginning they had some problems according to their schedule because they had to play against Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, both giant of the Bundesliga. Both matches were lost from Frankfurt but they showed that they are capable to competed with them. After this they won two matches in a row now but they are still a bit away from the top places but they are on a good way if they can repeat their performances in the past. Whether they miss some important guys. 

Dynamo Dresden - SC Paderborn

Very curious situation at the bottom of the table. After four draws after seven matches Dynamo Dresden is at an early stage of the season four Points behind the safe zone, even behind Place 16 which means again two matches to battle out the last remaining team in 2.Bundesliga. This was the case last season already for them but they managed to win and stay one year more in 2.Bundesliga. Therefore a win would be extremely important today as they face with Paderborn exact the team who stands on Place 16. They can close the gap then and hope returns to Dresden even if they lose they are down for several weeks, they should take this in mind additional. However, Paderborn wants not to present some gifts for Dresden today, they want the Points as well and they want continue their run from the past. They celebrated two victories in a row at home and now it is time for the first win on the road as they managed only one Point in three matches there.

In their first game under new Coach Olaf Janssen Dynamo Dresden got an important draw in Düsseldorf 1-1 last weekend. But nevertheless this late success with the equalizer from Müller could not drown away their remaining weaknesses. But Coach Janßen has one week more now to prepare his team for this important match. If he changes some on his starting lineup is unknown at the moment because the training was not public this week and no one can follow the situation. Maybe he counts on the same eleven as vs. Düsseldorf but it was clear there that striker Pote is absolutely out of form at the moment . This can be the chance for Joker Müller but he is most probably on the bench again. Whether Fiel or Trojan who retruned in training after their injuries again some alternatives should be decided shortly.

Paderborn’s Coach Breitenreiter plaguing some problems in defensive because with Jens Wemmer, Markus Krösche, Tim Welker and Michael Heinloth are four players injured who could not train during this week. But all four are expected to play, in what condidtions these guys are is unknown. Absolutely sure out are Meha and Bertels who must pass injured. The miss from Bertels can have some changes in starting lineup compared to their 1-0 win at home vs. KSC. While Vrancic move one step forward, can play Diego Demme beside Krösche in central midfield here. One alternative more for Breitenreiter is striker Mahir Saglik who had to pass with injury the last match. But he is on bench first while Rick ten Voorde starts from beginning on.

FC Schalke 04 - Bayern München

Saturday evening Top match will be between FC Schalke 04 and Bayern Munich. Both started in Champions League under the week but both with different success. Of course both won but Schalke 04 played really crap in first half and need a lucky goal to open the gates and got a lot more space and put the result higher. Nevertheless this encounter has a long tradition and it was always a very hot atmosphere between these two clubs. We can expect the next big fight here as both need Points to continue their way.

Maybe some statements from some players were not optimal before the season. Because with Jones mentioned one player in an interview that the goal must be for Schalke to win the championship this season. This was of course very optimistic from him and maybe too much pressure for his team mates as they disappointed a lot in the first matches, only designed the last two successful. It was more as needed according to their team spirit and self confidence for the upcoming weeks and also not to stick around longer firmly at the bottom of the table. What would have brought a lot of unrest in and around the club. Also Coach Keller can work without any pressure now, but of course at Schalke you have always pressure and they want more anyway. After five league matches which 7 Points on their side they have to continue their way but they have to improve a lot additional. It looks like that the team has some problems in their defensive and offensive play. They are not on the level they must be to be a good team and they have still to do to get well balanced in their play. Some weak Points are their defense line where Matip, Höwedes or Santana made a lot of mistakes in central back and this is always included with conceding goals. Both back wings are average if Uchida or some replacements whoever played since there. Also the other side with Fuchs or Aogo in the past it looks not such stable. Also a lot of changes in central midfield where Jones, Höger, Neustädter or Goretzka got a chance there, all could not convince so far and therefore Coach Keller has not found the right lineup so far. Offensive line looks very good from the names but they have still a lot of to improve. Offensive wings with Farfan and Draxler are top players but only on a good day, replacements have less quality with Clemens and Goretzka. In central midfield they got with Boateng an important leader in their team and he can maybe be the advantage or the difference in some matches. Striker duo with Huntelaar and Szalai are great but they face a lot of slight injuries in the past while Huntelaar was out some weeks and Szalai played with hand injury. However, the situation can be much better anyway.

I wrote a lot from Bayern Munich in the past weeks and they maybe have something changed in their style of play. If we compare the matches to beginning of the season where Coach Guardiola counts on much ball possession and only one central player before the defense line it looks more that he has changed his style of play and gives Bayern Munich more stability back. Against Gladbach very open in defensive and also much space for Gladbach’s wings, because of very high playing wings and only one central midfield player before the defensive line. Also in Frankfurt they won with luck but with same tactic, vs. Nürnberg at home also with some luck because if Ginczek had scored it had been very hard for them to bounce back, lucky again. In Freiburg they controlled the match but did not want to go for the second goal or if they waste ….. and according to a lot of luck in the first matches and not to attack for the second goal they paid the price with a late equalizer from Freiburg which cost them two points. Nevertheless they dominated the Supercup match against Chelsea and were the far better side but needed a lot of luck again to equalize in Extra time but they won after Penalties and took revenge. After the national break or maybe due to national break Coach Guardiola changes his mind about his tactic maybe because he watched Germany vs. Austria in Munich. He saw that Löw played with two central midfielders before the defensive line and it worked well. Above all one player with Kroos interprets his role very flexible but always in mind that he had to help the more defensive minded player Khedira in central midfield and this could be the key for Guardiola’s rethinking. One week later Guardiola turned to the same system against Hannover to give his team and their play much more stability back. Of course they are still offensive minded but with two central defensive players now, almost the same system as under former Coach Heynckes. The only difference is that with Kroos a much more offensive thinking player interprets his role very flexible. It worked well vs. Hannover with a 2-0 win and also against CSKA Moskau 3-0 in CL they kept two times a clean sheet and this show that they are on very good way now. Maybe Coach Guardiola has needed some time to find the right balance and right system for Bayern Munich’s play. Nevertheless they had 70% ball possession in CL against CSKA and this is an absolutely great value and in Guardiola’s signification. Despite the two wins some changes are possible above all Schweinsteiger can be in starting lineup after returning from injury, therefore Lahm who played in central midfield for him can move back to his normal position on the wing while Rafinha must on bench. In Central defensive he can choose from van Buyten, Boateng and Dante, not sure what he fields there. Offensive line should be the same because of less alternatives according to their injured players like Thiago, Martinez and Götze although Götze is back in training but not ready for the starting lineup. Maybe Mandzukic gets a break and Pizzaro plays for him. The other position are all expected as in the past.

1.FC Nürnberg - Borussia Dortmund

- This the 63 meeting between these teams and BvB with a clear 31-19-13 record by 105-67 goals.

TSV 1860 München - Erzgebirge Aue

After three matches without an own goal and with only one Point TSV 1860 Munich stands before an important match where they have to win this one if they do not want to fall down more. Nevertheless they played well in Funkel’s first match on the sideline for 1860 but only one half, the other was more a disaster but Funkel has one week more now and this can help maybe. Also this is the first home match for new Coach and all expect a win against relegation candidate Aue. But on the other side Aue can not allow to present some gifts after two loses in a row. They started well but they lost their form totally and was not able to get points in the past. Therefore also Aue under pressure here.

In his second game as Lion coach he has to make some changes compared to the 0-0 draw in Aalen. Because with veteran Daniel Bierofka got again an important player injured. Against Aalen he gave his comeback but again an injury set him on the list for several month. Therefore Coach Funkel searching for the guy who can play beside Yannick Stark in central midfield. Maybe it is well that Dominik Stahl got some prectise in second team from 1860 after he has recovered from injury and is ready for his comeback today. If Coach Funkkel decides that Stahl is not ready yet, maybe Wannenwetsch is the next candidate for this position. Also a change in offensive is possible where only Lauth has his place for sure, but the others are open. Possible that Rob Friend gets a chance here with his good play in the box while Hain has not the dominance there and is a candidate for bench then.

Also in Aue Falko Götz likely make some changes after his fifth defeat against Bielefeld 0-2 in their last six matches. Most probably is that Rene Klingbeil moves back to the wing while Kevin Pezzoni gets a chance again in central back after a break. But also seems possible that the new signed defender Ivan Gonzalez plays together with Tobias Nickenig in central back immediately. While on the central midfield position with Schröder and Diring plays to guys well also against Bielefeld should they start again at this position. Also striker Sylvestr is set to start for Coach Götz but he is thinking a lot how he can build a better offense around him as they are more as harmless in the past matches. Fabian Müller should therefore shift to the actuall appealing performance at right back again move forward because Novikova falls out again. Moreover Guido Kocer used his chance as he comes in against Bielefeld and was one of the activ players and had some great actions who helped his team very well. Whether Janic and Okoronkwo, both had not fulfill the expectations so far and they maybe battle for the third and last position in offense.

Of course Aue played Kaiserslautern and Cologne away from home and it is always hard to win there against to teams but 1860 is the next top team where they never won before. The only win was only due to the gifts from Ingolstadt who allowed them two easy goals for the win. On the other side 1860 won 2 of 3 matches at home and sucked their Coach Schmidt after the disappointing resutl againt Sandhausen 0-2. After Funkel arrived they should be on a better way now. 1860 uptrend and Aue downtrend !!!

VfL Bochum - VfR Aalen

When VfR Aalen arrived for the first time to Bochum’s Ruhr Stadium about eleven month ago, it was a big surprise as the newcomer won with 1-0 there. Since the team from Aalen has collected a few Points on the road this season already, they travelling with a lot of optimism in the bag to the Ruhr. All is well at Aalen according to their lastest results and they are looking forward to this game. Sportmanager Markus Schupp gave the mood in Aalen’s team again. But overall VfL Bochum after a very weak start into the season could convince in their recent matches too. They won away 2-0 against previous unbeaten Fürth and got for sure a lot of self confidence out of this match. According to the resutls on Friday evening the team from Peter Neururer wants to use the opportunity and climb up to 3rd place with a win. This is not the only reason for three points in this encounter, Coach Neururer mentioned also that they want to build up a home fortress. In this case he would not be statisfied with only one Point here. He said also that home wins are the key to establish his team in the upper table region to which VfL Bochum belongs to the self.

But all in all not an easy task but they showed really good play at home but need also a lot of chances for their scoring and in defensive sometimes with to many mistakes that allow easy goals. Nevertheless some problems arrived already before the match as with Florian Jungwirth an important player is not available. He suffer some injury today. Also Piotr Cwielong could not train completely and do all of the trainings programm. The 27 years old wing, who scored his first goal against Fürth last weekend has some problems in the area of the neck. However Neururer assumes that the polish guy can play. The vacanted place from Jungwirth in central midfield can be filled with Zahirovic where Coach Neururer gives the bosnian player his starting debut. Otherwise nothing will change in the successful formation from the last two matches. The other guys who are out: DEF Butscher, DEF Bastians, DEF Sinkewicz, MID Tiffert

The guests has not problems so far, Coach Ruthenbeck can count on all of his players, only Andre Hainault has suffered an injury in training this week. As the canadian national player has so far been used only a few minutes, no changes must be made and the usual system from 4-3-3 what is known from Aalen can be practiced.

Although Aalen plays a very offensive minded system they are very strong in defensive and they play really well on their counter attacks where with striker Lechleitner who will be supported from both wings from Klauß and Valentini can use the space to hurt Bochum here. Of course Bochum at home always good for goals but they allowed in every match so far. Much more important can be the miss from in great shape playing Jungwirth who was the central person in Bochums play and he push his team additional. Do not know who can replace him on the same level.

Union Berlin - Greuther Fürth

This is the second top match this Friday, the other match was a traditional Bundesliga match while this one is because of the current table positions when first Union Berlin facing second Greuther Fürth. At the old “Försterei” Union Berlin wants defend their first Place as they had overcome previous leader Greuther Fürth last week and stands on the top for their first time now. The trend, however, speaks for Union Berlin which has remained unbeaten six times since the opening defeat against Bochum while Fürth had to suffer their first defeat against Bochum last weekend.

In Berlin, however, despite their actual table position, all knowing that the standings after 7 Rounds has only a very limited value. Nevertheless the way how the experienced team of Coach Uwe Neuhaus has retracted their recent wins was awesome and impressed. They played very clever and present them with super moral. This let the fans dream for the first promotion in history of Union Berlin. Although not everything is running smoothly, there is therefore no reason for Coach Neuhaus for some personal changes. Nevertheless some players with Özbek and Terodde who has Neuhaus in his back hand who were on bench last time searching for their chance and hopes that they are sooner or later returning in starting lineup.

If you saw all matches from Fürth so far you will admit that it was only a matter of time until the first defeat from Greuther Fürth comes. The team from Coach Frank Kramer was already in Karlsruhe 2-1, against Cologne 0-0 and in Frankfurt 1-1 very lucky not to lose. Also in some other matches where they won, it was more as luck sometimes. Nevertheless the wins are on their side and the Points as well but now it is time for getting back on track and defending their current good top position if they want to remain in battle for promotion this season. Coach Frank Kramer is expected to change his starting lineup several times. First can be defender Mergin Mavraj who returns after missing against Bochum with injury, even Kevin Kraus or either Zsolt Korcsmar must give their place in central defense away. Another change in the back four can be if Niko Gießelmann is not ready as he facing some knee problems. Then the last season right wing Baba would defend on this side. In attack Azemi meanwhile is back on board and probably the first choice. New signing Füllkrug can then move back and play as midfielder with some orientation to support Azemi. For Baba, who disappointed in unusual position, Tom Weilandt should take his place on the right wing. 

1.FC Köln - 1.FC Kaiserslautern

The experts agreed before the season that both teams 1.FC Cologne and 1.FC Kaiserslautern will have an important word in the battle of promotion. While 1.FC Cologne has found his form after a slow start into the season they are back on track and on a good way. On the other side FCK started really well with 6 Points out of 2 matches thought they are on a good way but they lost their winning way and are winless in the past three matches. At the start of the Round 8 on friday evening, the two traditional clubs face each other who is normally a perceived Bundesliga duel in which Kaiserslautern comes with new Coach Kosta Runjaic who wants to turn things around and stop the big euphoria in Cologne.

Currently it is all well in Cologne and they played really well in the past. Two convincing successes against Erzgebirge Aue 4-1 and 4-0 at Cottbus in any case was long time ago but let many dreaming for walkthrough and get promoted in the end. Coach Peter Stöger, who nevertheless can look forward to a first time under his direction sold out Stadium is doing well to slow down a little euphoria and to point out the seriousness of the task they have this time. Also because it was not all well in their recent victories. Capital mistakes in defense as in Cottbus by Brecko and Nacimento will lead to some goals for the opponents if they allow such again but for sure Kaiserslautern can use it anyway. Personal situation is very good at Cologne and there will probably be a change anyway. Although the young Austrian Wimmer did his job very well as left back on Monday he will be replaced from Jonas Hector who returns from injury. Otherwise, including returned striker Helmes the same team start who has impressed in Cottbus, especially in first half. This means that the two times successful goal scorer Peszko again gets only a place on the bench and is only preferred as Joker which reflects the enormous offensive quality in Colognes squad.

After recent disappointing performance at 0-1 in Sandhausen Kaiserslautern take a lot of hopes to the new Coach Runjaic who got a Point with MSV Duisburg despite one man less in Cologne last season. Overall with a Point against Cologne no one would be unhappy in Kaiserslautern but they are traditional very strong in Colonge and therefore FCK fans and the officials certainly hope that they completely turn things around and win there. FCK must occur for it but improve in almost all areas compared to last week. Once again they miss their main striker Mo Idrissou for last time but he is very hard to replace and the scoring problems are not solved anyway. In general Kosta Runjaic will probably not change too much in his debut. Only right back Florian Dick returns from suspension and take his place while Matmour can move to the right wing then while Fortounis probably is on bench.        

Energie Cottbus - 1.FC Köln

As always on monday evening, the last match in 2.Bundesliga to close the Round. Energie Cottbus and 1.FC Cologne face each other for an important one according to table situation. Because in 2.BL table everything is still close at the moment, both teams have the chance with a win to jump upwards. Home team from Cottbus will climb from Position 13 upt to third place with a win while Cologne also is in a good position only with a draw they are on third Place and with a win they are very close to the leader duo Union Berlin and Greuther Fürth. They can reduce the gap to just one Point and this should be motivation enough to be back in promotion race after an average start.

Cottbus is aiming for their third home win in third match but no one expects such clear results as in their past two home matches vs. Paderborn 4-0 or VfR Aalen 5-1 but hope for a narrow win is still there. This is also because with Top Scorer Boubacar Sanogo they miss again their best Scorer suspended, what the offensive force of Coach Bommer’s team certainly slows down. Therefore Bommer can field the same offensive line as he did already against Kaiserslautern where they got a 2-2 draw, although they were over 60 minutes with one man more on the pitch but could not take advantage of it. This means that Jendrisek accrues as the lone striker while he gets supported from three offensive midfield players. The guys on the wings are maybe Stiepermann who is current in absolutely great shape while on the other side Susic could not convince much vs. Lautern and also he is struggling with some calf problems what may come to a change again here. Coach Bommer looking for it anyway, probably candidates are Takyi or also Bickel can hope for a place in starting lineup. Meanwhile will return from suspension left back Bitroff and should replace Svab there. All other positions are normally clear.

After Colognes transfer coup with Helmes all awaits his comeback in shirt of FC. The former national player played five years for Leverkusen and Wolfsburg after returning to his old club. After some statements from Coach Stöger will he be in starting lineup immediately and build with Ujah together the striker duo. Therefore one player must on bench although the team convinced for the first time against Aue 4-1 in their last match. Maybe hard decision to be made here for Coach Stöger but he wants not to miss the quality from Helmes up front. According to the past lineup he must pick one of the offensive players like Risse, Halfar or Peszko otherwise they are to offensive minded if he takes out Gerhardt from central midfield. But which player, all of these three made an excellent match against Aue and it can be a very tricky task. No one expect four goals man Risse on the bench, therefore it can only be Halfar or Peszko who is out of the lineup. Peszko seems to be the better choice on the left wing and feels more comfortable there what makes it difficult for Halfar to start. But if he is on bench and comes in in second half he can bring some fresh breeze in their play. However, on defense line there will be no changes anyway.

- Braunschweig has 4 defeats in a row and could only score a single goal in these matches.
- This happened 4 times in BL history so far, but only 2 of these 4 teams were relegated in the end.


More or less we can maybe compare Braunschweig with Fürth who has a very bad last season. It looke like that Eintracht is on the same way, their level is to low and the players are maybe to weak for this league. Overall they have to improve a lot and therefore start getting Points if they do not want that they are without any chance of remaining in BL. Some players are missing here with Correia, Henn and Hochscheidt.

Nürnberg maybe has to missing who can be count here with Pinola suspended and Gebardt. All the others are not such important. Despite their bad situation they are very self confident but they should not lose this encounter. This can be a big disaster and it opens some discussion about the Coach. With only two Points so far this is a big match for them but it is also one for Braunschweig. Bottom clash even.

After the two week international break an important match ahead where both sides needs to win according to their aims and table situation. Despite disappointing result Fortuna Düsseldorf is still able to get closer to the top of the table but only with a win today and this can be a good start into a better autumn. As they were not able to get more as 7 Points out of 6 matches and this is far to less for their promotion aim. On the other side Dresden is winless so far and has to win immediately if they do not want to sit longer on the bottom of the table and lose the contact to the teams ahead of them.

At Düsseldorf the situation is not very well above all some personal concerns for Mike Büskens before the match today. It is true that striker Reisinger who was replaced injured at 2-4 in Bielefeld returns earlier as expected and this is probably the best news Coach Büskens gets in this week. But overall the biggest problems are there with DEF Latka who is one of the heads in team and lead them well because with him they play much better in defensive as without him but he miss this match with injury, also playmaker Kenia is maybe out and the next big blow. The biggest fighter in team with Bellinghausen will miss the third important starter today. Of all these three players, only Kenia has some hope that he can play but he has to face a late fitness test maybe. And if Coach Büskens wants not risk much and sit him on bench maybe and let him on pitch if the match is not like he wants. Thus, in all parts of the team changes must be done and maybe some system change as well. Because of playmaker Kenia's absent he can count on two strikers with Reisinger and new signing Bance while Lampertz and Gianniotas can play on the wings. In central defense, meanwhile Latka will be replaced again from Tobias Levels who did this already to begin of the season but he had some big mistakes and the fans supported against him. For Levels take Balogun the position on the right back wing.

A lot has happen in the past ten days since new Coach Olaf Janßen arrived in Dresden. Off the field, the new coach made some stringent rules and certainly Roman Bregerie to the captain of the team. Primarily Jansen wants to strength the together of the team who was previously not perfect in his view. However, success will probably only really provide a clear improvement of the team spirit, which is why the debut from Janßen against Düsseldorf is of enormous importance. The confidence should be available since last weekeend and the 2-0 test friendly against Borussia M'Gladbach in any case. All are more as excited, which starting lineup Janßen wants to field. In test match against Gladbach, MArco Hartmann convinced in defensive midfield and can build with Menz the double six together which would have a place on the bench for the experienced Losilla and Fiel. Meanwhile, in central defense could Susac replace Mravac who could not impress against Ingolstadt two weeks ago. And also on the wing it is more possible that the quick Ouali returns into the starting lineup as he is one of the important players for Dresden and he can create a lot of actions with his fast moves and actions. It is also possible that Janßen can surprise all and field a quiet different lineup.   

FC Ingolstadt 04 - Union Berlin

After the disastrous start with four defeats in a row FC Ingolstadt turn things around and they got 4 points from their last two matches, but they are still on bottom of the table. Therefore they aim for the second home win in a row against a top team from Berlin like Union is at the moment. Some expect called Union Berlin to the promotion candidates and they were not such bad as the first matches showed that they are more than able to fill this position as they suffered only one defeat so far and currently ranked on 2nd place. This means that they are slight favorite in this match today, although they have not the best record in Ingolstadt where they never won before. Nevertheless they will play they offensive style there too and with Mattuschka they have an incredible good standard specialist in his rows. For this Coach Kurz expected that today's opponent will go for the win and they have to invest a lot if they want to get here anything out of this encounter. Additional he has not to warn his players before striker Adam Nemec, who played 2012 in Ingolstadt and prevents with his two goals the win against his club now. So all know him well and all know where he has his strength.

In addition to Andre Mijatovic and Moritz Hartmann, and also due to lack of ankle problems Almog Cohen miss Ingolstadt one of their major offensive players with Caiuby today. Coach Marco Kurz had given the information at the press conference before the game that the 25 years old brazilian offensive player was banned from the training this week for disciplinary reasons and is not in the squad for the match against Union Berlin. For the open position fighting Ümit Korkmaz and Christian Eigler who both come in question for Caiuby's replacement. Also in central midfield where Cohen will miss again is one place open beside Morales, probably Knasmüllner can take this as he played really well against Dresden there and get some bonus from Coach against Pascal Groß now. But he had some problems with his knee and could not train the first week of the break, and was also not in the squad for the friendly match against Austrian team Liefering. But he recovered this week and this can be a good sign for him that he plays anyway. Nevertheless the new signed right defender Engel, however, is likely no option for the starting lineup after just a few trainings. He played in Cottbus last seaosn but got no contract there anymore and was without a club now, this means that he is not in his best fitness level and therefore needs to work hard in the next weeks.

The guests go into this match with a lot of optimism, because contrast to the often weak performances on away ground last year they are still unbeaten this season and they want the first win on their fourth attempt in Ingolstadt now. However, all know that the current situation in table says not the real potential of FC Ingolstadt and therefore it can be a very hard match for them anyway. Coach Uwe Neuhaus said it already this week: If we lose this match we are only 4 points ahead of the bottom teams, you can see how meaningless the table really is at the moment. He expect a very strong opponent today, as Ingolstadt turn things around and they want continue their way therefore they should be warned about all and try to invest all they have available. Nevertheless seems no doubt that Union has the aim to build on their shown performances before the break and they want to go for the win here additional. Personal situation is a bit difficult as with defender Eggiman is one important players not available due to injury, therefore Stuff and Schönheim seems to play on central back. The large Stuff maybe can gets some problems with the quick players from Ingolstadt and can be a key factor here. Özbek, however, returns into the squad after his back problems but is still no option for the starting lineup. Overall Coach Neuhaus counts probably on the same lineup as he did against St. Pauli in their last match.

Bayern München - Hannover 96

This match can be a clear one for Bayern Munich, according to the stats between these two teams it speaks all about Bayern. They have meet each other 24 times in Munich and it has been absolutely clean for Bayern as with 21 wins, 2 draws and only one lose they are dominating this encounter very well. In the past Bayern was always able to score a lot against Hannover 96, last season it was at least 11 goals where they won mega easy 5-0 at home and 6-1 in Hannover. If H96 can hurt Bayern Munich than it was always in their own stadium but in Munich they are so harmless as they are always on the road. Nevertheless the match must be played first but I see no special reason why Bayern should not win this. Stats are absolute clear.

I wrote many times about Bayern Munich and I will try to put some lines on again. They had an incredible good last season under Coach Jupp Heynckes and they won all three title. This time they started well, of course, but I miss something in their play. They are not such good in offensive where they play much to slow and their passing looks well but they must come to finish their actions and this is the key, they play to much around the box but inside the box you score !!! This was the key in Freiburg where they had around 80% ball possession but what helps ball possession, goals decides matches nothing else. So they have to improve maybe their play a bit but I think Coach Guardiola wants to continue this way. Hopefully the players do their work and they learn fast, how to play fast and good in offensive. Last season was this perfect, they push from beginning on and they do not stop, no they played till the final whistle comes. Next key fact is the defensive where they play much to open in my eyes because with both back wings are more midfield players as involved in defensive line. They play much higher as last season and this give a lot of space and opportunities for their opponents, but only if they have fast and quick players in their rows. Nevertheless a lot of work to do and a lot of holes to close. Maybe this need some time but they have less from them, the big matches comes up next week with the start of the CL. Fingers crossed for them and Guardiola's coaching team that they are able to bring Bayern Munich on the next level, at the moment or what I have seen in their first matches, they made one step back against last season, no one ahead. But they need one forward ...... Overall not so easy above all with new coach and new style of play and so on. Starting linuep depends on what players are available for Guardiola today. Goals is clear with Neuer, Defending line can be Lahm (if he must play in midfield because there are some problems Rafinha is the first choice as back wing), Dante, Boateng (van Buyten), Alaba. Midfield Schweinsteiger (if he is not ready, Lahm can play on the position before the defensive line). Ribery (Shakiri), Kroos, Robben. Striker Mandzukic. Not many left on the bench as a lot of players are not available and Guardiola said that he is not very pleased that he has only 18 fit players left. With Thiago, Götze, Martinez and Kirchhoff he miss some who are normally good for the starting lineup. Also young midfielder Höjberg is injured who plays most of the time for the second team but signed a new contract as Profi till 2018.

Many talk about the best start Hannover 96 made in his BL history but you have to look where they won the matches. They won 3/4 so far this season but all their 3 wins where at home, and this is the place where they are known for their strength. Ok, some luck was there too but maybe this is needed anyway in close matches. Take a look at H96 history, above all away from home in the past seasons, you will not see much wins, this means that they are always weak travelers. Of course after Coach Slomka is there as head Coach they are solid and they play a good role in BL above all as they reached two times the EL but this season they are without an additional competitions and maybe this can be the key for the next good season additional. They go from week to week and they are well prepared and rested for this matches what can make the difference or advantage here. Overall this team from H96 is very young and they have a lot of potential in the near future, if the team go this way together. They put a their budget a lot this season and this is 66 Mio. for the whole club Hannover 96, 50% of these sum are for the football. They signed a lot of new players and from several nations, this means that they have some language problems, but this should be solved after some weeks now. Despite their bad away performances or results, H96 is a real counter attack team, if they play at home or on the road, they have their real strength in fast attacks. No really clue why this style worked only at home for them and not much on the road where it should be much easier for them normally. Maybe the players have some head problems if they play not in their own stadium?!? You never know. Some problems has Coach Slomka today, because he can not field his best lineup. With Husti suspended, Diouf injured (and maybe rested for the upcoming matches), Pander injured, Hoffmann injured (big doubt maybe) and long term missing Franca he has some important weapons not available. Above all Husti and Diouf are the mens who can decide the matches for Hannover.

Overall this can be a clear one for Bayern Munich but the HC is set quiet high, so I think better to wait for some inplay actions. In the past it was more or less a high scoring encoutner but it depends all on Bayern what this will be !!!

SV Sandhausen - 1.FC Kaiserslautern

Only 100 km between these two clubs and therefore it is called a derby. On 7. Round 1.FC Kaiserslautern face a hard task at Sandhausen because they play very defensive minded and they allow not much. The game is for Kaiserslautern very important, but not the only reason, according to their table position of great importance. They must find back on track because of only 4 Points out from 4 matches is to less to compete in promotion race. In order for the race to climb places they have nothing else as to win here.

This is the second time for Oliver Schäfer on the bench as headcoach after he got a draw against Cottbus where they had a lot of work to do according to their fast red card and especially two times down but they fought back and got at least a draw. In this match they showed a good mentality and they looked very strong and push a lot. If all players work together they can be a hard nut to beat but it is not always the case. Oliver Schäfer has the opportunity to recommend a long term contract as headcoach if he continues like last match, this is an official statement from management. Although some media reports says that Kosta Runjaic comes as new coach to Kaiserslautern. So you see, a lot of trouble for the position as Coach and this can be not very helpful to prepare for an important match. Hopefully the team are brave enough and look only on their job and not on some papers. Against his debut as Coach Schäfer has to change one time as with captain Dick is his back wing out due to suspension he got vs. Cottbus. Also his replacement is not available due to shoulder injury and therefore he must improve a bit there. It can be that offensive player Matmour plays again on the back wing as he did in the end of the match against Cottbus. The role from Matmour as right wing could take Andrew Wooten who is expected there as he knows Sandhausen very well because he was on loan there last season. Otherwise no more changes. Lautern again without Alushi, Torrejon, Bunjaku, Idrissou and Riedel. A lot of good players are not available but they have to do their best for a good result here.

Even Sandhausen has a player in starting lineup who plays last season for the opposite. With Linsmayer is a former FCK player as starter expected. He changed because he saw no chance to be a regular player there. He does the step and he played well beside Kulovits so far. Overall Coach Schwartz sees no reason to change his team after winning their first match in Munich 2-0 against 1860. They showed a very strong performance there and allowed 1860 not much. This is needed again today as with Kaiserslautern one of the top promotion candidates arrive but he is a bit in crisis at the moment. Maybe this the the chance form small club Sandhausen. Especially David Ulm is a big hope who presented himself after his long injury twice in good shape and also today is set to start again. Sandhausen miss with Zimmermann, Kübler, Klotz and Luft some, but only Zimmermann was starter.

SC Paderborn - Karlsruher SC

In the past season they were not very pleased at SC Paderborn with the performances on home soil, only five wins were against six defeats. This season, Coach André Breitenreiter sees his team on the best way to reverse this trend: "We have shown in all three home games good performance and want to be the home power.  The unfortunate defeat against Kaiserslautern was followed by a 1-1 draw against 1. FC Cologne and the first home win against 1860 Munich 1-0. After an equal balance against the top three promotion candidates they will now want to celebrate their second home win against promoted team from Karlsruhe. With a win they could at least temporarily leave the relegation zone behind them. According to this Breitenreiter wants to play offensive for the win today despite some missing he has to replace. With similar self confidence comes Karlsruhe to the game today. Despite a small run without a win in their past three matches the current fifth think they are on a good way as away from home they have taken seven points from three matches so far. Coach Markus Kauczinski estimates the current standings of the teams in this early stage of the season but realistic. Overall in 10 matches there was no draw so far, only wins, 6 for Paderborn and 4 for KSC.

The hosts are missing MID Alban Meha (long term injured), DEF Christian Strohdiek (Shoulder injury), MID Daniel Bruckner (abdominal muscles) and STR Mahir Saglik (back) a number of experienced players. At center back Martin Amedick will replace Strohdiek and comes to his third start. The missing from striker Saglik probably compensate Elias Kachunga. For the vacant position on the left is the most likely scenario that Daniel Brückner (doubtful) takes the offensive part while new signing Florain Hartherz (from Werder Bremen) gets his chance immediately as defender to prove his skills in starting eleven.

In contrast to his colleague from Paderborn KSC Coach Kauczinski can choose from almost all players from his squad, only long term absent Martin Stoll in unavailable. In spite of this will probably be at least one change in the starting lineup. On the left back it is likely that Dennis Kempe move in the team while Michael Vitzthum must on bench, although he played well in his first few matches of the season in 2.Bundesliga. Also in offensive Coach Kauczinski has several options here but apparently tends to play with the same duo Micanski and Nazarov from beginning on as both played already in game against Aalen. Both worked well together what KSC Coach mentioned. But on the scoring efficiency, however, the attack must still work. Because with only six goals scored in the previous six matches, KSC is a hit worse than SC Paderborn in this category. In particular this is still highly upgradable from both sides.

VfR Aalen - 1860 München

After four points from their last two tough games against 1 FC Kaiserslautern (4-0) and in Karlsruhe (1:1) VfR Aalen once again standing for a difficult task with TSV 1860 Munich at their own Arena this Friday evening. The Lions comes here for the first time with their new coach Friedhelm Funkel after knocked out Schmidt after less success. For Funkel this is the first match after his arrangement with Alemannia Aachen where he was fired on 1 April 2012 and he returns after one and a half year in second Bundesliga again. Nevertheless a hard task for him as 1860’s goal is to get promoted and he got only a contract till the end of the season. If he has less success in this season, his time is gone immediately.

Even no one makes no secret in Aalen from the fact that the change of 1860’s Coach has come at a bad time at today's opponents. Despite this, they want to continue their small series and establish themselves away from the relegation zone. Coach Ruthenbeck wants to count on the same eleven as he did in the past matches and it was with success anyway. Alternatives are less, because their new on loan signed finish striker Pohjanpalo comes injured to them and needs some time to recover. He is only ready in October to help his new team. Therefore Robert Lechleitner is the only one striker again, but he said that he feel much more comfortable in this position as on the wing. He showed this already as he scored his first goal this season against KSC where he plays up front and not on the wing. He will be flanked by Valentini and Klauß who should be the guys who assist him. Aalen’s play is more from a good defense over fast counter and they allow not much space as they stand compact. This is their style and they continue this because only with this they can exist in this league as small club.

After 1860’s big disaster against relegation candidate Sandhausen (0-2) who was the fact for sucking Coach Schmidt. Compared to this match new Coach Funkel plans a few changes in his starting lineup now. First one can be on the back wing where Moritz Volz disappointed in the past and Wojtkowiak gets a new chance here. Also on the other side Schindler was not on his best shape against Sandhausen but he stays in team maybe. In central midfield Daniel Adlung meanwhile has not performed well in his six starts and will probably be replaced by Daniel Bierofka who is back after his injury and could play beside Yannick Stark which would significant help the team just in terms of experience safely. After the offensive line including the substitute player failed completely against Sandhausen, there may be changes too. More likely, however, and lack of alternatives Funkel counts on the same offensive quartet with Stoppelkamp, Tomasov, Lauth and Hain. But of course some other options are maybe there if Adlung lose his place in central midfield he can play on the wing as well. Also up front some other players are ready for playing. Overall Funkel can give 1860 a batch and lead them to better times.

SV Wehen Wiesbaden - MSV Duisburg

An important match for both teams, because both lost their last match under the week and need to bounce back today. Therefore they have to invest much more as they did there. Nevertheless Wehen lost to strong Erfurt clear 0-3 while MSV Duisburg were not able to win their home match against bottom team Borussia Dortmund II. Both teams made more a step back as forward, in this case it is very important to see who can get back on track.

Home side had mentioned several times that they want to get promoted in past season. If they have done like this they had a lot of problems and they were almost relegated last season. Maybe they get wiser and they do not say something of their goals this season. Maybe this is an important fact that the pressure on the team is not such high as it was in past season. Coach Vollmann works very well and with passion he has build up a very good team so far. They did a great job in their 7 matches so far although they lost last time, nevertheless with a win they can go even with leader Heidenheim and stands on top of the table, also with a draw or lose they are safe on second place. They are two points ahead and this gives them a lot of range at the moment. But coach Vollmann has to improve a lot because of a lot of absent players. Defender Herzig (6 matches / 0 goals) got injured, DEF Straith (5/0) is with his national team, DEF Gusche (2/0), MID Zieba (2/0) are injured while Christ, Döringer, Röser, Gyasi, Vetter and Königs are all facing long term injuries. In this case Coach Vollmann has to change his defensive row twice because with Herzig and Straith are both central backs out. On the other side he can count on a good offensive line, same almost as MSV and he has with Vunguidica an absolutely in form player in his rows who is good for some goals.   

Although MSV Duisburg got no license and has to go down from 2.Bundesliga to 3.Bundesliga they did a great job so far. Also the management who has to form a new team in short time did well. Of course they have not the preparation what a team normally need for a season but it looks like that all are absolutely focused to bring some positive mood back to the fans and club. No one has expected that they play so well in the first matches, so it is a big surprise that they stands so well in table. With a win they can go even with 3rd Kiel. Against last match Coach Baumann mentioned that they played to open and gives to much space for their opponent because with defensive line played to high and therefore he wants to build up a more strong defensive line today. The start into the season was more a disaster because they lost their opener against newcomer Hertha BSC Berlin 1-6, next one was a bit better but they lost vs Bayern Munich 0-1 at home. Nevertheless they managed the qualification to EL although it was harder as expected but only the success counts here. With only two days rest they have the next big match ahead with facing Borussia Dortmund. Against first match, their defensive looks much better now and they play much more stable now. With Zambrano as head of the defensive but also Andersen returns after injury and gives the team much more as Russ did. Although important wing Jung is still injured it is no problem so far because with Schröck or Celozzi in the past, both did a great job. Overall the good defensive is the key for their success in the past matches but also the offensive worked well above all Alex Meier was in great shape, scoring for free at the moment. But the situation is getting worse for him now as he got injured on Thursday and is out for the match today. A big blow for Coach Veh, but he has to count on new signing Kadlec who gave his debut in Braunschweig already but he needs still time. Also Joselu or Rosenthal can be options to play from beginning on. After Aigner showed some uptrend in the past matches he can be an important man in Frankfurt's play today anyway. In Aue coach Falko Goetz has to plan without veteran Kevin Schlitte who has suffered a muscle tear in training and is unavailable today. So it is good that captain Klingbeil after recovering from injury is once again available and can take its place on the right wing. In Auer defensive, in which are with Kevin Pezzoni, Tobias Nickenig and Oliver Schröder three former Cologne players are no changes expected.
