Eintracht Braunschweig - Borussia Dortmund

Statistic:

- It is long time ago that both sides meet each other but Braunschweig has 17-3-4 at home.
- Dortmund could not win since 4 BL matches and they collected only 2 from 12 possible Points.
- Under Coach Klopp BvB conceded first time in 9 matches in a row a goal.
- The last clean sheet was at Round 9, when they won to Hannover 1-0.
- Braunschweig has the weakest offensive line with only 10 goals scored.
- After 18 Rounds has only Frankfurt (70/71) and Tasmania Berlin (65/66) worser numbers.
- Dortmund lost already so often as in the whole last season (2).
- Braunschweig collected more Points as BvB in recent 4 matches.
- Dortmund won the last three against Braunschweig.

Braunschweig must replace the following players: Perthel, Caligiuri, Vrancic, Korte, Kruppke and Oehrl.

Dortmund had a lot of problems in the past too and this time they can not count on Kuba, Subotic and Gündogan.

Braunschweig has to go Round for Round but they should try to start getting points otherwise they can plan for the 2.Bundesliga again. The numbers tell the truth and no one in Germany has hope that Braunschweig has a chance to get out of the red zone. Of course the fans and supporters from Eintracht are the only one which believes in them. But sorry, this is to far away and maybe a level to high for them at the moment. Sure, they had some days to surprise but the Rounds are less and all the other teams are getting points as well.

It is not the time from Borussia Dortmund at the moment, they were much better some month ago. Now they miss almost all they have shown in this good time. Above all their fast play is gone and also the pressing style with they had great success. Also they had a lot of unlucky situations and problems with injured players who were all important for them. The lose from Götze was to beginning of the season not seen so much but in the past it looks like that they must search for the right puzzle.

Normally this should be a clear thing for Dortmund, but with this form I think it is not worth a shot anyway.

VfB Stuttgart - Bayern München

Statistic:

- Bayern won all their last 9 matches against Stuttgart and scored incredible 30 goals.
- The last win from Stuttgart against Bayern is long time ago, March 2010 2-1 in Munich.
- In the last 5 BL games conceded Stuttgart always twice and more.
- Bayern is the best away team every in BL and the run continues.
- They are unbeaten away from home in 27 of their matches now (23-4-0). New BL-Record !!!
- Bayern Munich scored in all their recent 27 matches at least one goal.
- If Bayern score today, it is again a new BL-Record for them. Once again :)
- It looks like that almost all positive records are in hand of Bayern Munich now.

Stuttgart with not much problems with injured players, only Didavi and Rojas are out while Bayern Munich miss Badstuber, Schweinsteiger, Martine, van Buyten, Ribery and Robben (doubtful after some problems with foot).

The next defeat is ahead and it looks like that Schneider has to work harder with his team otherwise they are fully involved in relegation trouble and it is not obvious that they can handle this anyway. More and more the team look not as good as they should be. With a lot of mistakes and some problems in their play as well they are far away from a good BL team. The table position says all. A lot of hopes were there above all in the new players like Abdelloue and Rausch but they are far away from their best level. Also other players are not in best shape and the downtrend continues.

On the other side with have the team who is to beat at the moment in BL. They are far away that they lose any of this encounter and they so cool and superior that no one is able at the moment. Their squad is excellent and if some of the big guys are not available they have a lot of good and experienced players in back who can play then. The only thing what did not work so well is their scoring machine. Ok, they score but without a striker upfront and to much passing around the box it is hard to score. Ball possession is one thing but scoring is the better way to win matches and win it easy. They should try to get more efficient and they can beat a lot of entertainment too. Of course, Guardiola is the man and he wants the perfect play, always but he should train more to shot on target. In close matches it can help a lot too if they are up already 2,3-0 and they never will get in danger.

Statistic:

- From the last 5 matches against Schalke won HSV only one (1-1-3).
- The win was 2012 in November 3-1 at home.
- In recent 4 BL matches were a lot of entertainment between both sides with a lot of goals.
- Schalke lost only one of their last 7 BL matches (4-2-1).
- And on the road they are 3-3-1 in their last 7 matches.
- The Hamburger SV is very weak this season, they collected only 4 from possible 21 points in the past.
- Additional home weakness is well known and they got only 3 from 12 possible points recently.
- But Hamburg is unbeaten in all their last 6 starts on sunday (3-3-0).
- And also Schalke is unbeaten in all their last 9 !!! starts on sunday (5-4-0).

Hamburg has a lot to replace today as with keeper Adler, Beister, Arslan, Djourou injured and Rincon suspended are a lot of players who are normally in the starting lineup.

On the other side the situation is getting better but they miss a lot too. Not available for Schalke is Höger, Aogo, Jones, Kirchhoff, Draxler, Clemens and Höwedes.

According to the results form yesterday HSV stands under huge pressure as all teams behind them won their matches and it is getting more at the bottom of the table. Therefore Hamburg needs every point to stay away from relegation battle but they had the luck on their side last year and maybe this time it can be that the only team who never was relegated in BL so far, is the team now. I can not see that they have learnt something from last season and they talk about EL and so on but the table speaks a different language.

Much different for Schalke, as all their rivals lost points yesterday and they can close the gap top the top 4 almost. This is a huge advantage now but they must use this. The situation is not good as most of the players are injured, of course some returned like important striker Huntelaar but he should be on bench first and give his comeback later in the game. Schalke is to much Farfan, if this guy has a weak day it is almost gone with Schalke to get anything. If you watched the matches from Schalke you would say the same.

Werder Bremen - Eintracht Braunschweig

Statistic:

- Braunschweig lost all their last 6 against Bremen by 2-19 goals.
- This happen against no other team so far.
- In Bremen they are winless since 7 matches.
- With only 31 Points from 34 matches were Bremen the weakest team 2013 !!!
- This was not even an average from 1,00 Points from each match.
- Of course Braunschweigs BL history is very old but this time they played the weakest one.
- Bremen won only one of their last 6 BL matches (1-1-4).
- But it was on the last Round 2013 where they could beat Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 at home.

Bremen without any worries, only Fritz is injured out here. Braunschweig has there much more problems with Perthel, Korte, Oehrl, Kruppke, Caligiuri and Vrancic are all out injured and unavailable for Coach Lieberknecht.

Bremen played very bad 2013 and it looks like that not much change 2014. I am not a fan from this team as they do very hard. With this squad it can be that they get a lot of problems during the second half of the season. Maybe they get more and more involved in relegation trouble. For this reason they should look forward and try to win this match what should be very important for them otherwise Braunschweig comes closer to them and the gap to the placed behind is not big.

It was clear that newcomer Braunschweig getting a lot of problems in this league. It looks like that it is the same as Greuther Fürth one season earlier. This teams have less potential for Bundesliga and they are maybe a good team in second league but also only if luck is on their side and all goes their way. Otherwise it is very hard according to their potential in playing good passing style and so on they are far away. It is only big fighting for every point. Of course Coach Lieberknecht gave an interview and said that they are no back and they have the same good team spirit as last season. This must be shown in Bremen today

Eintracht Frankfurt - Hertha BSC Berlin

Statistic:

- Against no other BL-team celebrated Hertha BSC so much wins as against Frankfurt (25).
- The first match ended 6-1 for Hertha, never started a new promoted team with a higher win.
- With only 4 Points from 8 home matches was Frankfurt the weakest team on home ground.
- Eintracht Frankfurt is waiting since 9 BL home matches for a win.
- This is negative record for them and this is the longest streak from all BL teams at the moment.
- All recent 3 matches on the road won Hertha BSC, and this was long time ago that this happen 2007.
- Hertha's biggest win on the road in Bundesliga was 5-0 and this was exactly in Frankfurt.
- Armin Veh has good records but only against Hertha BSC he got no win in 11 attempts (0-3-8) so far.

The situation is getting a bit better in Frankfurt with injured players but nevertheless they have some out with Flum suspended, Celozzi and Oczipka injured.

On the other side Luhukay has to replace some important guys like Cigerci, Ben Hatira, Brooks and Baumjohann.

A lot of Problems in Frankfurt above all with the three competitions they had not the power for Bundesliga. In Cup and Euro League they did very well and lost their strength and power for the league, but now the batteries should be reloaded and the injured players are almost all back. Above all important Aigner and Meier who should be some good weapons for Coach Veh today.

Newcomer Hertha has the same success as last year Frankfurt. Maybe both were a bit underrated from some opponents and they could use this more and more. Therefore Hertha stands on a good upper place and they are far away from relegation trouble. This means that they can play relaxed and easy and look what they are able to get. But it is not as easy as they want because some important players are out today. Some changes in team must be made by Luhukay and also maybe some position rotation.

The stats speaks clearly against Frankfurt today, but it is not impossible that they get the first home win today and also the first win from Coach Veh against Hertha too. The stats must be broken now. According to table situation is getting more and more dangerous for Frankfurt !!!

Borussia Dortmund - FC Augsburg

Statistic:

- After 14 years BvB lost 3 home matches in a row before the winter break.
- Between March and April 2000 they lost 4 times in a row under Coach Kraus.
- Augsburg is unbeaten since 5 matches (3-2-0).
- Against Augsburg is Dortmund unbeaten in BL so far (4-1-0  15-3 goals).
- Augsburg got their biggest loses against Dortmund in BL, both with 0-4.
- Dortmund won all recent 4 openers to the second half of the season.
- They are unbeaten since 10 years after losing to Schalke 0-1 in Season 2003/04

Dortmund has some problems as with Gündogan, Hummels and Subotic miss some players here. On the other side Augsburg has also some missing with Moravek, Ji, Holzhauser, Mölders and Amsif.

Dortmund was not on the best level at the end of 2013 but they want to get back on track and I am sure that they lose not 4 in a row at home. Although some of the players returned after the break now they have still some important players not available. Nevertheless Coach Klopp has to build up a good and strong starting lineup and start to reduce the gap to second placed Leverkusen.

Surprise team of 2013 is clear FC Augsburg they were almost relegated to winter break but their comeback was amazing and also the first half of the season 2013/14 was great. Coach Weinzierl and Sport Manger Reuter made a great job together and formed a good and well playing team. They invest all what they have available and all in the club know that they can only compete with the teams in BL if all are ahead of their level. They were very hard to beat and the defensive worked excellent and sometimes the offensive was able to score one or two goals to get the points on their side.

Overall this should be a clear one for Dortmund, but some doubt after the last performances from both teams. Many said that Augsburg is very hard to play and this is true but I can not see Dortmund losing 4 in a row at home and after Gladbach losing yesterday it is a big chance for Dortmund now. I am sure that Klopp find the right words and tactic here to overcome this side from Augsburg. If the first goal comes early it is much easier for them. The HC comes out high with line -1,5 but if you brave enough you can take this in my eyes. Also a good choice can be to wait for some minutes and get a good position with the HC -1.

VfL Wolfsburg - Hannover 96

Statistic:

- Hannover won all 4 matches in the past against Wolfsburg.
- With the next win it would be a new record for them, as they managed never 5 wins in a row !!!
- Wolfsburg is unbeaten since 9 BL matches (6-3-0).
- This is the best streak beside Bayern Munich at the moment in BL.
- Wolfsburg is the best team in the league with winning 54,1% of their duels on pitch.
- Hannover 96 has a new coach with Tayfun Korkut. He is an unknown one but was Co in Turkey.
- Additional a very hard Programm for 96 as 3 of their 4 matches take place away from home.
- They are still without a Point on the road (0-0-9).
- VfL Wolfsburg played the best first half of the season so far. With collecting 30 Points.
- Of course they had the same numbers 2004/05 but the goal difference was much weaker.

Missing: Ochs suspended, Vierinha injured and Polak too. On the other side H96 with Ya Konan, Felipe, Pander and Sobiech much more and important players too.

The sign from Wolfsburg was clear at winter break above all after sining new player De Bryne from Chelsea for 22 Mio. They want to reach the Champions league spot and for this they invested again. Now the team is much stronger and the duels for a place in starting lineup begins. Maybe Coach Hecking must change a bit as with Träsch has one player the flue and is not ready yet. But this should not be a big problem if we take a look at such a good and on a high level squad which Wolfsburg has at the moment.

On the other side Hannover suffered a lot above all on the road and this costs Slomka his job. He never was near a Point on the road as they made to many mistakes and played not such a good style as they did at home to beginning of the season. This should change now as with Korkut a new and fresh man is on the sideline and all hopes are no him now. It is not out 100% which team he wants to field as I think he has some in mind and change some too.

1.FC Nürnberg - 1899 Hoffenheim

Statistic:

- First match between these two teams was 2009/10 in Cup where Hoffenheim won 1-0.
- In recent 4 BL-games between these sides were overall 18 goals, this is an average from 4,5
- In these 4 matches scored Nürnberg 10 goals and Hoffenheim 8.
- But in the first 5 matches against Hoffenheim, Nürnberg could only score twice.
- Nürnberg is the first team without a win after 17 matches and therefore first half of the season.
- FCN is the team form all top leagues in Europe without a win (Negative record).
- But a lot of hope for Nürnberg, because in the past years the team on place 17 never get relegated.
- Hoffenheim did not win to beginning of the the second half of the season (4 times - 0-2-2).
- But Nürnberg won only one of the last 5 opening matches to second half of the season (1-1-3).

Home side miss for this encounter some important players which got injured in some friendly matches like defender Pogatetz and Hasebe. Both should have been in starting lineup and therefore Coach Verbeek has to chance now. With young Stark is the next option in midfield out. Not a good sign overall, but they signed with Petrak a good young and talented player who should help them anyway.

1899 Coach Gisdol has not so much worries and he can choose form almost all.

I think that not many changes happen on Nürnberg's side only the two players must be repalced and this can be that Pinola plays again in central back what he did already against Schalke very well and in midfield is Feulner / Balitsch or Petrak an option for Hasebe. All the others are the same as at least. Nevertheless they should start winning now to get a bit out of the trouble and maybe bring some self confidence back on their side. Despite all bad things Coach Verbeek is very pleased about the trainings camp and work there and he is very happy with all. They had a few friendlies, won all but it is a good sign? In summer they won also almost all and in League they were not able. Maybe the luck has changed now and they are in a better position as last year where they hit bar and post so often. All hope that this shots are all goals now.

1899 Hoffenheim is not out of trouble and they need every point too. But I think the squad for this are there although most of them are very young but they need this experience to get better and better. A lot of duels for the open positions in Hoffenheim and Gisdol can choose from almost all. This brings him in a very good position as well but he must hope that he does the right decisions. Open is if Volland and Elyounoussi are able to be at 100% after their light injuries.

Bor. M'Gladbach - Bayern München

Statistic:

- Gladbach are unbeaten in their last 8 BL matches.
- In this period they collected 20 from 24 possible Points.
- Their last defeat was in the middle of October 0-1 to Hertha on the road.
- Bayern won only 3 of their last 23 BL-matches in Gladbach (3-13-7).
- Last season at Round 34 they won there 4-3 and it was big entertainment from both.
- Gladbach is unbeaten at home this season so far. They got 25 from possible 27 Points.
- Only in their last home match 2013 they drew to Wolfsburg 2-2, all the others were won.
- Overall they are unbeaten since last Bayern Munich visit as mentioned above.
- Bayern Munich celebrated the best year ever from a BL team 2013.
- They won 5 from 6 possible title, only the Supercup in summer was lost to Dortmund 2-4.
- Bayern lost not one of the last 26 BL away matches (22-4-0).
- With this successful year they beat several records in history of BL and they want walk on.
- Bayern Munich is unbeaten since 41 BL-matches now.
- Both teams have the highest rate of ball possession with Gladbach 56% and Bayern 66%.
- Also both keepers are on a high level, Neuer conceding only every 105 minutes and Ter Stegen 88.
- With a win Borussia M'Gladbach can be the team who beat them after such a long run.
- They can overcome them in home table with a win too.
- Bayern Munich have the chance to defend all 5 titles in 2014. They are in all competitions alive.

Coach Favre must replace defender Jantschke after his injury in trainings camp but with Dominguez is a long term injured player back an he can play immediately and return on his position in central back. With Brouwers is an additional defender out but not important at the moment at all.

Bayern Munich has a very big squad and should handle the problems very well but they miss here at least with Schweinsteiger, van Buyten and Martinez some important guys. Also Lahm has a slight knee injury under the week and trained not much, if he must pass maybe Thiago plays central in midfield. Also Ribery is a doubt as I read today.

Big match to beginning of the second half of the season and this is also a big match between former rivals. Gladbach at home very strong and hard to beat, they work very well as team and they are very hard to beat, Coach Favre did a great job and found the right things and players to strengthen his team to last season. All his offensive weapons are available here, only the defensive was the part to change.

Bayern was the team from 2013 and they want to be the team from 2014 as well, they overcome all opponents in the past and they showed a huge dominance in almost all matches. But Coach Guardiola should be not very pleased with the new injured players and also with the weak performance in friendly match last saturday where they lost easy 0-3 in Salzburg against Red Bull. This result should may have been higher as well as Salzburg missed some good opportunities too. Maybe it was the right time for this defeat to bring all a bit more back and they know now that they must be more focused and play on a higher level to beat opponents or maybe continue the run they had lately. The problems are already mentioned above and it will be very interesting what starting lineup will Guardiola bring on the pitch.

FC Ingolstadt - 1.FC Kaiserslautern

In the last game of the year, one day before Christmas meet Ingolstadt and Kaiserslautern each other. After three defeats in a row and slipped down to seventh place according to the good results of the opponents but could jump with a win to third place and at the same time close the gap on second placed Greuther Fürth back to four Points. Ingolstadt is only above the red zone due to their good goal difference but would fall down with a defeat by two or more goals to place 17. For both teams, therefore, the game has an enormous importance also in view of a quiet winter break.

Ingolstadt wants to brush up their weak home record before the winter break, because with only six points from eight home games they are the worst team on home soil in the league. Once again Coach Hasenhüttl counts on the same eleven as last week in Aue 0-0 where they remained undefeated for the fifth time in a row. Nevertheless one time he has to change as with suspended defender Matip who booked the red card in Aue must be replaced here. This puts veteran Mijatovic in a good position to play from beginning on the central back alongside with Gunesch. All other positions remain unchanged as mentioned and they would continue their unbeaten run as well.

Kaiserslautern’s coach Runjaic must replace two regulars with the suspended right back Florian Dick and the ill central midfield player Markus Karl what speaks not for a good balanced defensive line. This means that a lot of changes in defensive must be made and some of the players are not on its normal position. First one should be Simunek who is back after his injury and play not in central back as normal, no he is set to play on the right back. Next is Orban who move from central back into the midfield where he must replace ill Karl and the open position in central back play Heintz then. He celebrates his starting debut under Coach Runjaic today. In offensive are also changes possible as they had not the right balance in recent matches and created less and maybe were also too harmless. Above all Marcel Gaus had not his best matches and is a candidate to be replaced according to his bad performances. This is the time from Fortounis who can take advantage from Gaus bad form and move into the starting lineup. But overall after three wins in a row many players are in doubt and must improve a lot, hard task for the Coach to bring his team back on track.

Bor. M'Gladbach - VfL Wolfsburg

Wow what a season from Bor. M’Gladbach, they did really well and of course deserved the outcome so far. They are very close to third place Borussia Dortmund but they are only 3 Points ahead of Wolfsburg who put a lot of pressure on them now. Nevertheless they played really great at home and won all 8 matches so far while away from home they are with 2-2-4 a lot weaker. Despite the good run at home they played not so well in the past matches above all their offensive is a bit harmless at the moment and they created not so much as to beginning of the season. It is more they play their style, if they get a chance it is good, if not also good. This was seen to Freiburg and in Mainz already. Of course they can not fire from all guns every week and outplay all opponents but the players are not so fresh what I have seen. Coach Favre counts on all recent matches on the same lineup, of course, sometimes it is good but at the moment they do much to less and maybe changes can help to bring in some freshness in their play. The offensive line with Herrmann, Arrango, Raffael and Kruse is not so dangerous and create less as I mentioned already on the other side the defense stands well and did their job.

Also Wolfsburg did very well this season and they are one of the contenders of a international spot. This season they managed it to get better results above all at home where they lost a lot of Points last season, away it can be a bit better maybe. Overall with 29 Points they are close to a Champions League spot but should continue the winning way. First time after they won the title it looks like that they are able to play a good season and get in the end what they deserve according to their investments they made in the team. Coach Hecking has find a good and well balance starting lineup which do the job very well. The defensive looked very strong compared to last season and they do not have so many mistakes that they lose points here, the offensive do also very well and they are always abel to create some and get dangerous. They have the players in their row the crack every defensive in this league and also some in back if we consider that players like Perisic or Dost comes only from bench.

According to table situation it is a big match for both sides and I think that no team wants to lose here. Of course Gladbach has the better position and they can sit back maybe and take a look what is Wolfsburg able to bring on the pitch today. But they should not forget that they did this also in their last away match in Mainz and they never find a way back into the match, and got only a 0-0 draw there. I wrote it already that the offensive power is a bit lost and maybe the players are tired of Galdbach, this can be the case again today. I see Wolfsburg as a bit better and they have more freshness and should be much more motivated to get even with Gladbach in table. On the other side Gladbach can use the defeats from Dortmund and Leverkusen to climb up. I expect a close and even match where both are satisfied with a draw in the end maybe. The line changed already to +0,25 for Wolfsburg but I see a good chance for them here, Gladbach has a clean record 8-0-0 at home and this can be the first time they lose points. Wolfsburg my choice here. GL

Fortuna Düsseldorf - 1.FC Köln

At the end of a very tumultuous year stands for Fortuna Düsseldorf with the „Rhein-Derby“ against 1.FC Köln once again a highlight of the program. As both teams faced each other on Matchday two all are expecting Fortuna Düsseldorf as one of the promotion contenders above all they domintated this match very well and it was only due to their waste of chances that they lead not higher as 1-0. In second half Cologne was much better and improved a lot and got a 1-1 draw in the end. But after a few month later things have been much different, Düsseldorf fights to get out of the bottom zone while Cologne stands on top of the table and can with a win open the gap more and more to the other teams. Nevertheless it is a big match and after Düsseldorf fired Coach Büskens and announced Reck as interim coach they are on a clear uptrend now. Both last matches where Reck stands on the sideline were won. Both matches were very important otherwise they would have been involved huge in relegation battle. Overall a hard and big match is expected as both are not very familiar.

In Düsseldorf has interim Coach Reck not many reasons to chance his successful starting eleven from recent matches. May, in the case of a derby success it is expected that he gets promoted to the head Coach of Fortuna. With three wins in a row should all arguments on his side and this is was count. Therefore he works with huge dedication. Compared to the 3-1 win in Cottbus where Oliver Fink was suspended but played really good in Kaiserslautern by the win of them two weeks ago should be back in the starting lineup again. This means that the youngster Gartner is out of the starting lineup after his debut in Cottbus. In attack all hopes are on Benschop and Hoffer, both did the job in recent matches and they are always able to get dangerous.

Cologne Coach Stöger is probably also rebuilt his starting lineup against the 3-1 win against Dresden on one position. So it is likely that top player Risse moves into the team who was only substitute against Dresden due to illness. Peszko is the first who is out for him. Alternative to the last practiced 4-4-2 but would also be 4-2-3-1 with Peszko and Risse in offenisve and Daniel Halfar in the center behind Helmes are possible too. In this case Ujah would be only on bench then. The only problems they have at the moment is with defender Wimmer who has light muscle problems and is a doubt but the austrian should be ready to the match. So no worries on Cologne side for a big derby.

1.FC Nürnberg - FC Schalke 04

Since beginning of December all were so positive to get the first win but they made some bad experience again. First they played Mainz in their home arena where they took the lead early but could not hold till the end and conceded the equalizer in second half, and the end only 1-1 draw. One week later they played a really great match in Hannover. All was well and they controlled the game very well and were able to score at least more as one goal, no they scored 3 in first half. All were very happy about the good play and result as well and no one was thinking that his match still ends in a drama. In second half they controlled the game as well, had a lot of counter attacks to expand the lead but they failed so often and after Hannover scored the first goal, Nürnberg panicked. In the following minutes they conceded the second goal but it was more as one meter offside but the referee gave the goal and at the end they conceded the equalizer in minute 92. All were very pissed off and very angry about the referee. If you mean that the heads are down in Nürnberg after the 3-3 draw despite a 3-0 lead to half time is wrong. They are all very positive minded and they want to first win as defender Nilsson announced already. They are so close and their play improved a lot after Coach Verbeek arrived. With this positive attitude they go into the next match against Schalke, of course it would be not as easy but they are trying to invest all again. Sooner or later they will win, maybe with luck or with a extremely bad performance but they win, this is their only aim at the moment.

Schalke had a lot of trouble this week, even with Coach, if he should be sucked not or not and so on and also with some injured and ill players. The statement was that Keller sit on the bench and he sit also on the bench after the winter break but I am not so sure because if he lose today, that it for him. The next problems are the squad, according to news is Höwedes and Draxler huge injured and both are out longer. Also Boateng trained not the whole week with the team according to his knee problems. Next important player Farfan was ill during the week but trained on Thursday already with the team. You never know if he is at 100% or not, Schalke was all about Farfan in the past matches and if he has not the best condition it is a harmless team of Schalke. The injury troubles they face at the moment are huge and it is very hard for them to replace this players equal. Nevertheless Coach Keller must find the right mix and also the right words and tactic if they want to get here something because Nürnberg should be hot this is sure after the undeserved draw in Hannover. Last season Schalke came to Nürnberg as favorite, same as today and they were the much better team to beginning but wasted a lot and lost in the end 0-3.

Of course, Nürnberg winless and they are so hot to get the first win against a side from Schalke who has not the best preparing week maybe. Also a lot of players are unavailable what makes it very difficult anyway. This is a do or die game for Nürnberg and they know about the situation, but they are all very positive and this is for me a key fact for this match. Despite all, I count and believe in Nürnberg here.

SC Freiburg - Hannover 96

A lot was written from SC Freiburg this season already but I do not want to mentioned all the things again. After the Euro League knock out and also from national Cup Freiburg can concentrate them only on the league. This is an important key fact because the small squad could not handle so many competitions and additional lost a lot of power. The power is needed to get out of the danger zone but if they play like in the past matches it is very hard for them to avoid relegation battle till the end of the season. They made a lot of unneeded mistakes, above all in Cup against Leverkusen, also against Wolfsburg and Schalke, where the mistakes decided their defeat. Therefore they have to improve a lot in the upcoming matches to get a better outcome. First of all they have to bring 2013 to an end with the last match against very weak away side from Hannover. All are very tired if physical or mental and the winter break is coming to the right time now. They can reload their batteries and start new 2014. Nevertheless the last game must be played and they have hard 90 minutes ahead because a lot of players must be replaced again. This is almost the last squad which has Coach Streich available.

One of the weakest away team 2013 arrived to Freiburg to look for the first Point in Season 2013/14. They are on an incredible run of 0-0-7 at the moment although they made it not so bad in recent matches but they made to many mistakes in the end and lost the games all. In Bremen they were up 2-1 but lost 2-3, In Hamburg they were up 1-0 but lost 1-3, in Stuttgart they were up 2-1 but lost 2-4. These three matches said all, they are able to push from beginning on but they are not able to hold the lead till the end. This is only because they are too unstable in their defensive play and also make a lot of mistakes. If they do not change this it will be hard in every game to win. Despite the 3-3 draw at home to Nürnberg after they had to come from behind it is not all well in Hannover. The Coach Slomka is in doubt and he needs results immediately. Above all this match is very important for him if he wants to sit on the bench 2014 again. The situation getting worse at the moment and a lot of trouble makes it not such easy for a relaxed and good preparing for this important match. Nevertheless after such a long winless run or run without getting any point it can be that sooner or later they get something.

Both teams are on a bad run lately, Freiburg losing 5 in a row while Hannover came to Freiburg with 7 defeats in a row away from home. Both looking more or less totally out of form and both make a lot of mistakes in the past matches. Therefore it can be that not all problems are solved and we can expect an open match with problems on each side.

Union Berlin - Arminia Bielefeld

With Union Berlin and Arminia Bielefeld facing two teams today who have already some difficult weeks behind this season. But both showed an uptrend in recent matches therefore this can be an interesting one. Union camce back on track last weekend as they won to Bochum easy4-0 after six matches without winning any while Bielefeld stopped their bad home run and won to top team Fürth, overall Bielefeld is on a run from 3 matches without losing and they collected 7 points out of these matches. Of course, both teams want to continue their positive run and go into the winter break with a good feeling as well.

In Berlin all may be very excited to see which team coach Uwe Neuhaus will send on the pitch today. It is because in Bochum were 4 players not available due to suspension or injury but all of the replacments made their job really well and therefore it is very nice to see the lineup now. With Quiring, Kopplin or Dausch, all were only bench players but showed that they can be more as only this part. It means that the regulars Parensen, Özbek, Kohlmann and Brandy must hope of Coach Neuhaus if they start again today. But overall it would be a surprise if he changes a winning eleven. All think that he counts again on the same lineup as in Bochum but maybe one or two changes are possible. Nevertheless one change is sure, with Terodde is their forward suspended what gives Nemec the place back today.

Bielefeld Coach Kramer who must continue to replace a lot of regulars with Hübener, Fießer, and Müller should be very proud about the performance against Fürth and bring the same starting lineup as one week ago. In this match Salger replaced Hübener very well and showed his strength for team. Also Riese and Burmeister in central midfield made a good job so far and should be set to play here. Over all stand Marc Lorenz at the moment he is in great shape and has the momentum on his side too. In all recent three matches he made the difference, therefore they hope that they can bring the same today. In attack long term injured Klos is not on his best level but he is very important for the team as without him they won nothing and with him they showed an uptreand and he is enormously important due to ist presence.

Dynamo Dresden - VfL Bochum

Important match for both teams, because they are already in red zone or they are not far away. After just one Point from the last two matches Dynamo Dresden went down to relegation zone and need their fifth win to go out of the danger zone before the winter break. They do not want to spend the winter break on the bottom, however, a win is necessary. Bochum was on a good run lately and won 3 matches in a row, however, they did not great in recent 3 games and collected only one point out of these matches. In this case they are only 2 Points ahead of Dynamo Dresden and if they do not want to get in danger they should not lose this encounter before the winter break.

Compared to the 1-3 at Cologne as Coach Olaf Janssen was very pleased with the performance from his team, apart from the errors before the goals from Cologne, but of course was not happy with the result anyway. Therefore some changes, basically a return to 4-4-2 instead of 4-1-4-1 which was practiced in Cologne is possible. It seems that youngster Leistner after his weak day in Cologne probably sit only on bench and Schuppan who made a lot of mistakes before the goals for Cologne is out of the starting lineup too. For Schuppan moves Thorsten Schulz from the right to the left side of defense, on the right side would start Menz or Gueye. In defensive midfield then play two guys with should be Kempe and Losilla. In offensive Coach Janssen has once again significantly more choice because Robert Koch and Pote returning from suspension. Both are expected back in the starting lineup, what let Milde move out of the team. Beside Pote is it probably that Joker Aoudia has good chances to get a place from beginning on with good performances.

Bochum’s coach Peter Neururer, which of course does not want to go with four matches without a win in a row in the winter break has a lot of problems before the game in Dresden above all with injuries. From the startling lineup last week against Union Berlin 0-4 are not available Freier, Fabian and Sukuta Pasu, all out with injury and all are very hard to be replaced equal. For Freier starts Eyjolfsson who stand for a difficult task to defend an agile Ouali who is one of the best offensive players for Dresden. In central back is Acquistapace set to play for Fabian and should help to be as compact as they can. In attack is Aydin expected to replace Sukuta Pasu. Of course he could not convince much in his performances but Sukuta Pasu was also not the best in scoring. Maybe this change hurts Bochum not much. The others must be seen but overall they should be able to competed with Dresden today.

Eintracht Frankfurt - FC Augsburg

It was a big susprise that Eintracht Frankfurt got the win after a winless period since September. Although Coach Veh counts not on his normal starting lineup because he saw in their last Euro League match that some of the bench players did their job well and therefore he counts on them again in this BL game. He was right with them and additional gave Kadlec, Inui and Oczipka some rest to recover from recent matches. Also important midfield player Rode was not available but he was not needed anyway. They played very focused and aggressive and let Leverkusen not to come into this match. Of course sometimes they had good actions but it was not their day maybe. Despite many changes Frankfurt took the lead due a header from Russ but after some minutes his muscle problems arrived again and he is a doubt now. But nevertheless they are back on track now and can hope that some of the rested and maybe Rode recover for this match in full strength. This is needed because they waiting since 16 Rounds for the first win in their arena. After the success against Leverkusen it can be a good sign to get the job done after a long time.

This small club from Augsburg did very well this season so far. No one expect such a good result after 16 Rounds from them. The new signed players were all reinforcements immediately and they increased its performance and strength very well. All are working together, Coach, Team, Management and this is the outcome. Last season they were almost relegated, only with a huge effort after winter break they reached the important target. All in and around the club are very pleased with Coach Weinzierl and his work but also from Sport Manager Reuter. With a lot of flair for young players they build up a good and balanced team. This team from Augsburg is very hard to play and their fighting spirit is extremely big. All important players like Baier, Altintop, Werner and Hahn are in good shape but it is also a doubt if they can invest so much power every week. Sooner or later it can happen that they play not on such a high level or they are tired too. The effort is huge from all, and they live their dream.

Although Augsburg showed good recent form I am very keen on Frankfurt this time. They were so close in the past matches to get the first win at home and I think after the performances in Leverkusen they looked well prepared. Their defensive play was strong and also in offensive they could create some, an important fact is that some bench players were in good shape and this help a lot above all if they can bring some fresher guys as at least. This can be a key point here as Augsburg comes over their physical strength and they invested a lot in the past and maybe can be a bit tired in the end of the match and this can be an advantage for Frankfurt to overcome them. They took the lead also late in Leverkusen. Therefore my choice Eintracht Frankfurt here, they never lose this again !!! Line is absolutely worth to take.

1860 München - FC St. Pauli

 Pauli when two of the traditional teams meet each other. Therefore it is a big chance for both teams this evening to climb up to third place. St. Pauli has already 28 Points and can enter third place with a draw while 1860 Munich has one Point less and need a win here to get the position. Nevertheless it can be a good opportunity for both to return big into promotion race but both had failed huge in the past above all if they are close to it. This time one of the teams reach it anyway. According to last matches both are in great shape with winning almost all, 1860 with four wins in a row while St. Pauli wins 3 of the last 4. Overall exciting 90 minutes can be expected in any case. 

Because 1860 Munich had always problems in the past when offered the chance to climb up to a promotion place Coach Friedhelm Funkel said that he do not look at the table, he wants the focus only on this match and allow no excuses again. Also he wants to see a concentrated and self confident team, only the same as in the past few weeks. A very important player in recent matches was Dominik Stahl, who could score in all recent 4 matches, but a small question mark behind his use according to team news. However, the latest forecast was positive, so it is expected that he can play in central midfield alongside Stark. Also long time unsuccessful striker Lauth begins again in attack although it would be very helpful when he can end his bad run. No changes expected compared to last week.

St. Pauli’s interim coach Roland Vrabec, who with another success in Munich, rises his chances for the job as head coach. But nevertheless he is probably very close anyway after three convincing wins. Compared to the last 2-0 win at Aue he wants to change maybe on two positions. Although young attacker Gregoritsch surprised by his premiere in starting lineup he move out of the team and instead of him Christopher Nöthe is expected beside Fin Bartels. Additional more options in offensive with John Verhoek who is fit again and should be an alternative in attack as well. Besides Gregoritsch also Kringe could remain on bench if Vrabec decides to let youngster Maier start against his former club. As the youngster could be very motivated and give St. Pauli’s team an additional boost.

1.BL games on Sunday !!

FC Schalke 04 - SC Freiburg

- Against no other teams got Freiburg so much wins in BL as to Schalke and Kaiserslautern (11).
- Schalke did not lose one of the last 8 sunday games (4-4-0).
- Freiburg won only two of their last 16 BL games (2-5-9).
- But they allowed only one goal against them in recent 4 away games.
- Freiburg is without scoring a goal since 218 minutes. Last goal 1-0 win to Braunschweig.

Schalke has again some players to replace as with Draxler, Huntelaar, Aogo, Höger are some injured while Höwedes is suspended after his red card. On Freiburg's side we have with Hedenstad, Mujdza, Coquelin, Schmid and Schuster also some out.

After Höwedes is suspended here Matip must move back in his recent position as central back while Jones plays in midfield then. For the injured Draxler can Coach Keller choose some options, because with Mayer, Clemens or Fuchs he has a lot of alternatives but can they replace them equal. Schalke's play at the moment is more or less Farfan, if he has not his best day, nothing goes for S04. Therefore they must look that the power man get the space he needs and with his good and fast actions he can bring a lot of trouble for the defensive from Freiburg.

After Coqulin got injured they must change again today. The win position can me played by Freis but also from Pilar or Kerk. A lot of options also for Coach Streich although he has not a big squad and a lot are out already and additional the match in EL under the week can bring some problems here. This was the last match for them in Europe, from now on they can put their focus on the league and they hope that they are better prepared in the future and get also better results to get out of the danger zone.



Bayer Leverkusen - Eintracht Frankfurt

- Leverkusen won all recent 3 home matches and scored 9 goals in these matches.
- None of the 56 BL matches ended goalless. This encounter produce an average from 3,2 goals
- Frankfurt is winless since 10 Rounds (0-5-5), only Nürnbergs waits longer for the win (15).
- Bayer is one of the strongest home teams, they won 7 from their 8 matches.
- Also they have one of the best offensive with scoring 23 goals at home.
- In 8 BL home matches they scored 23 goals as mentioned this is an average from almost 3 !!!

Leverkusen again without top man Sam, Hilbert, and Reinartz injured while Spahic is suspended. For Frankfurt can not play today Celozzi, Aigner and Meier.

Not many options left for Coach Hyppiä and therefore he changes only what he must and this can be the defending line where Wollscheid move in for suspended Spahic. Also on the back wing Can can get a rest here while Boenisch is an option again now. The self confidence is high at the moment in Leverkusen after reaching the next stage in Champions league and also the good run in BL which brought them in an excellent position before the winter break. With a win here they can extend their lead to the other teams behind as both Dortmund and Gladbach played only draw.

Under the week in EL game at home Coach Veh rotates a lot and gave important players a rest. All these guys return here. It seems that they have a very good lineup available and they want to get something here as well. They are close to the drop zone and this is an important match before the winter break. Also important midfield player Rode gets fit for this match. Overall the lineup is not such bad and we can hope for an interesting match here, maybe Frankfurt get some self confidence for the last match against Augsburg next friday what is very important above all to get the first win at home after a lot of average attempts.

Karlsruher SC - FSV Frankfurt

Newcomer Karlsruher SC played a very good Round so far, they are close to promotion places and they are aiming for more. Maybe FSV Frankfurt coming to the right time to Karlsruhe as they have a lot of problems and produce a lot of headlines in past weeks. Before the win in Cottbus 4-1 they were winless in 4 matches but the win produced a lot of trouble. Above all the penalty who was taken from Kapllani. Of course he scored but he was not the announced man to take it. Therefore the Coaches and Management were very pissed off and they suspended him after the match till the end of the year. But after some bad matches and according to fall down to place 16 and getting in danger now the team ask if they can reduce the suspension for Kapllani. Ealier this week he let him back in team training and he should help to get back on track and help the team with his goals to get out of the danger zone. The 31-years old Albanian striker played former days at Karlsruhe and scored 26 goals in 118 games. He should be very motivated against his former club anyway, if the team can get back on track now, we will see. It is hardly needed anyway, as they got only one win and a draw out of the last 7 matches.

The "Badener" were more successful, and are unbeaten in last 7 games and have been the surprise of the last weeks to get closer to the top group of the table. With a win the team from Coach Kauczinski would push to spot number 3 today. But the KSC Coach is not much interested on the current table position, he is focused solely on the game today. As he announced that the three points are important for him but everything else I do not care. On at least one position the 43-years old Coach must change today because with left back Kempe booked his fifth yellow card last weekend to Bochum and is suspended here. For him Vitzthum will step in, who has held this position already to beginning of the season. He has already shown what he is able to bring and this is maybe a new chance for him. Also not to much worries give him the attack, although Koen van der Biezen was ill during the week and could not train much but the replacements are huge with Nazarov, Micanski and Hennings. Therefore he can choose from a lot for only one open position and this should be maybe not the problems today.

When FSV Frankfurt travelled to Karlsruher still a question mark behind striker Leckie, who had some problems with his ankle and was totally out of training, but since friday he has no problems anymore and return into team training. But if the fitness is enough for the match must Coach Möhlmann deciding. For Rukavytsya, however, who has returned to full training again this week comes the match to early, also for defender Oumari who is not available after his nose operation. In addition, Roshi reported sick with a infection and is not going well today. Compared to the preparation of Cologne Coach Möhlmann will likely return to the familiar 4-4-2, so that Djengoue will take place on the bench and for him a second striker comes into starting eleven. This maybe can be Kapllani.

However, I like the goals here as FSV has some offensive power back with Kapllani and they play a more offensive minded system today compared to the defensive tactic in Cologne some weeks ago. I know some say that KSC has a good defensive but I have the hope that the match get wide open and this can bring a lot of space for both sides and they have the weapons to use this. It is not sure if central midfield player Gustavo can play, as he is a doubt here and if this happen Coach Hecking maybe makes the same as in Freiburg, he decided there that Knoche plays in midfield while Klose move in central back. Also Diego was a doubt but I think he will play here.

Schneider gave a very young lineup a chance against Hannover and they convinced in some situations but had also some weak situations. But overall they have done well and should get the next chance here. If Gentner becomes fit here the young brother from Khedira must on bench then.

After the huge goal rain this afternoon I do not think that this match is a high scoring game. Above all Wolfsburg is not doing much if they take the lead and they are more focused to play their style. Therefore not much entertainment this evening maybe.

FSV Mainz 05 - Bor. M'Gladbach

Soto is back from suspension and is an option in central midfield beside Geis. Also Choupo Mouting can replace the at least weak Polter on the wing. Park who got injured in Nürnberg is doubtful and maybe must be replaced.

To beginning of the week Kruse had some muscle problems but should be ready for this match. Overall it is expected that the same winning eleven form last weekend stands on the pitch again.

This can be a very open match and I am sure that tactic fox Tuchel has some good idea to overcome Favre's team. Also it was not always easy for Gladbach to win in Mainz, from 7 matches they won only two. Also they are much better at home as on the road while Mainz has much more potential at home. Both wins from Gladbach were against poor or average home teams this season like Hamburg and Stuttgart. Nevertheless they are of course in good form and their run is amazing but I think that Mainz can have some weapons to bring this Gladbach team in danger. With N. Müller and Choupo Mouting over the wings they can be very dangerous, also with quick Okazaki up front. Despite the run from Gladbach I am very confident about Mainz today.
