MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

Aue’s new coach Hannes Drews has enjoyed a good start with his new team after registering three wins and one defeat in his first four matches on the sidelines. He has adopted the same playing style as Dominic Tedesco last season, which focuses on high pressing and fast counter attacks. Aue beat Sandhausen 1-0 last weekend and after eight matches they are in seventh with four wins, one draw and three defeats. Their full focus will be on this game now – to ensure they go into the international break with another good performance.

After five league matches without a win Union Berlin trashed Kaiserslautern 5-0 in front of their fans. It was a game in which Sebastian Polter scored three despite missing a penalty in the first half too. With three wins, three draws and two defeats they sit in ninth place, but they are only four points behind second placed Nurnberg, which is their target this season. Following their disappointing performances in previous games, their full focus must be on every game now and if they can continue similarly to their match last weekend, then they might be able to close the gap to the top in the upcoming weeks.

Both teams are in good form, but I expect Union to edge this one. Away win.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST TEAM TO SCORE – AUE

Both of Aue’s last two home fixtures against Union Berlin have seen the hosts score first. They have also opened the scoring in five of their last six league games.  I would not be surprised if this trend continues here.

HEAD TO HEAD

Union Berlin have won their previous two visits to Aue by a 3-1 and 2-1 scoreline. However, Aue were victorious in their last encounter in Berlin, winning 1-0 in April.
