MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW

Darmstadt never found a way into the game against Ingolstadt and lost deservedly 3-0 before the international break. It was their second defeat of the season and has kept them winless in the last three games. They have lost a bit of their form from beginning of the season, but with four wins, three draws and two defeats they are only two points behind third place as they sit in eighth. However, they expected better and will need to bounce back soon in order to make it into the top three.

After three wins in a row, Nurnberg were beaten 2-1 at home by Bielefeld. It was a game where they had 55% of ball possession but only five shots on target. They were not able to break through Bielefeld’s defensive line due to a lack of ideas and no creativity – although they still have the second best attack in the 2. Bundesliga. With five wins, one draw and three defeats they are only one point behind third place and have the potential to get back on track.

This is a difficult encounter to predict as both are very good teams and are fighting for promotion this season. Therefore I’ll go with the draw here.

SECOND PREDICTION: TOTAL GOALS – FOUR

Darmstadt and Nurnberg have been scoring a fair amount of goals of late and that looks set to continue here when both meet each other. Both are capable in attack and should at least be able to find the net as they have done in almost all matches this season. Both teams’ games have produced over three goals in total on average and I would not be surprised to see exactly four here.

HEAD TO HEAD

The last six times Nurnberg have visited Darmstadt they have picked up three wins, while the home team have also accumulated three victories. In addition, the last six meetings have produced 19 goals in total.
