1.FC Kaiserslautern - Greuther Fürth

After a very good start with two wins in a row 2015 put Kaiserslautern up under the top three. Therefore they want continue the way and hold the pressure on the other teams high but they suffered a major damper with a 0-2 lose to FSV last weekend. For this reason they are out of the top three now and only on fourth place but nothing has happen because they have all 38 Points from second to fourth place and the opportunity is big for Kaiserslautern to climb this weekend but they have to win anyway. On the other side Fürth is doing very bad 2015 and they were not able to score 2015 and had bad results as well. According to this reason they fired Coach Kramer and installed their former Coach Büskens who should lead them to better times again.

Kaiserslautern’s Coach Runjaic was not very pleased with the performance in Frankfurt and had some hard words about his team. He said that he wants to change on some positions. The first one means central back where Heintz got injured and is out longer, first replacement is Heubach who plays beside Orban today. No other changes expected in defensive line but maybe Jean Zimmer replace Schulze is a possible one. But Zimmer is needed on the offensive wing because Stöger could not use his change last weekend and is out of the starting lineup again. It depends also on the system Runjaic wants to use, if he plays again 4-2-3-1 it is a more defensive minded compared to the last home game against Aalen where he used two strikers with Hofmann and Zoller. Sure not in the squad are Demirbay, Stöger and Younes who all were a big disappointment against FSV and are out of today’s squad. Back in the squad is Matmour who had some injury problems recently.

The big reset button is used at Fürth and they return to old times because with Büskens they had their biggest success with leads to 1.Bundesliga but only after one Season they must go down immediately. In this season Büskens was sucked but return again now. All players hoping for a new chance and are motivated to show the skills in training. It is very open if Coach Büskens makes a lot of changes or count on the same as Kramer. Clear is that Weilandt is back in squad and starts today compared to the last games and to Kramer’s opinion. Also Philp, Gießelmann, Sukalo and Stiepermann are options for the starting eleven who are all no factors in the past under Kramer. 

Both teams meet each other 15 times and the outcome is almost even. Kaiserslautern could win 7 times while Fürth could decide 6 games for them, the other 2 games ended draw. At “Betzenberg” Kaiserslautern has a slight advantage with 4-1-2. The last 3 games were won from Kaiserslautern in their Arena. The last one was a Cup game which ended 2-0 for them 2014.

Eintracht Braunschweig - RB Leipzig

Almost all top teams failed this weekend what means that both teams have a great chance to return in promotion fight. Braunschweig with the better options because they are only 5 Points behind third place and with a win they can close the gap to 2 Points while Leipzig has already 9 Points to third place but with a win they can get closer and hope for a good run in the next weeks.

After two defeats to begin of 2015 Eintracht Braunschweig hopes for better times now. They want to get back on winning way and but some pressure on the teams above who has failed this weekend. Compared to the last match in Bochum Coach Lieberknecht has to make some changes because of suspensions and injuries. In defense he has to replace suspended Correia, for him Decarli is the next who takes this position. In offensive he has to replace Nielsen and Kruppke what is not the best for Braunschweig. Maybe new signing Berggreen gives his debut today, beside him is a quick player expected like Hochscheidt or Ryu. But overall these are not the only changes because behind a lot of players are still question marks. Boland, Zuck and Omladic face late tests today but if they are not able to play the alternatives are Pfitzner, Vrancic and Khelifi.

The team with the biggest budget are doing hard 2015 and they were not able to win one. They are on a huge downtrend although they fired Coach Zorniger, and give Beierlorzer the chance as head coach. He had no luck in first game under him and they lost too FSV too. This time he has the whole week to prepare for the match in Braunschweig but overall Sportmanager Rangnick does not talk from promotion anymore. This is not the goal they want to reach this season according to the last trend. Compared to last match are not many changes expected, only central midfield player Khedira must be replaced and he did not travel with the team anyway. The first replacement on this position is Demme, normally Kaiser is the key player here but he has some problems in the past and asked for a break. He is in squad again but only on bench today. On the offense lies the focus and he wants to play again with 3 attackers (Poulsen, Forsberg and Rebic).

After the huge defeat in Munich all are working hard to get back on track and make things easier. It was not only due to the players performance, no it was more a coaching mistake from Zinnbauer who wants control the middle with Van der Vaart and Diaz who are both not known for their fighting spirit. It was only because Behrami is missed hardly in midfield who are a player with a lot of power and pushing midfield player what most of the creative players there do not like. This man was missed in Munich but it was a big collapse from the whole team. This time they want to do better above all at home they are stronger. According to news is Coach Zinnbauer counting on a more defensive minded lineup to bring more stability in their play. He changes some players and count only on fighter. This means that Van der Vaart is on bench today, Diaz got injured and is missed anyway, also Behrami not ready and Jansen is out too. With players like Diekmeier, Djourou, Rajkovic, Westermann, Ostrzolek and Jiracek, maybe Kacar are all more defensive minded players which should bring the compactness today.

The team from Goldbach had an international game on Thursday, they controlled the game in Sevilla but were not able to score the important goal they want for the rematch. They missed a lot of good opportunities and lost in the end very unlucky there. Ok, it was not the knock out but they have to bring all their power on the pitch next week. Maybe Coach Favre rest some players here but after an EL match they are doing hard anyway. They were not able to win after such an important game in 8 attempts. This can be the case again today although they play are very bad side from HSV. The focus is more on the EL game and the changes Favre made today are big. He has done this in all the other matches and he does it again today above all the offensive line is changed always. Important key player Xhaka is suspended today and a big miss for Gladbach in midfield as he was inform right now. The game against rival Cologne showed additional that they do hard if they play deep standing teams because their wings are very fast and need space to overcome the defensive line. This is maybe the next big wall they face today and brings immediately the next problems.

After the big disaster from Hamburg I am sure that they do not the same mistakes again and they put all their focus on defensive work first what makes it not so easy for Gladbach to break them. Also it is a problem for Gladbach to make the game because they are more a counter attacking side with fast players but this time they have to do the organisation for the match. HSV can hurt them with the wings like Stieber and Müller who are also very quick. I am trying this and jump on the run Gladbach has after EL games.

Fortuna Düsseldorf - 1.FC Nürnberg

Both teams were named for promotion candidates from the experts before the season but both are a little bit behind this. Ok, Düsseldorf is a bit closer to the top three as Nürnberg who has a lot of problems recently. If they want to return to promotion race, none of these two can allow to drop more points. It is only up to win and win and win otherwise they are not able to let dreams come true.

The home record from Düsseldorf is not the best, they were not able to get more points as 13 from 10 home games where 30 were possible. They are under 50% in this and that says all at the moment. For this reason Coach Reck is trying to changes more and more for this important home match to get the fourth win in their Arena. Back in starting lineup is DEF Tah who was suspended for the last game and he should build up with DEF Soares and MID Bodzek the defensive line. In attack it is open who start today, because Pohjanpalo came hardly out of the winter break and has not the form from last November / December. It is possible that Hoffer gets a chance here and plays beside Benschop in attack while Pohjanpalo sit on bench.

After the bad performance to FSV Coach Weiler used the trainings week to work on a new, more offensive system and he was right and it worked well with the 3-1 home win against Union Berlin. The swiss man Weiler was very pleased with the practiced 4-1-3-2 and how his team was playing but for this away match it is open if he use this again or get back to a more defensive minded and controlled 4-2-3-1. The system is almost the same, only that he changes the number of attackers and give the central midfield more compactness with one man more. In this case youngster Stark can play beside Polak. In this case one offensive player must leave but it is more as open because all of the offensive players did a great job against Union. He depends more and more to Füllkrug because the others are to important and Mlapa made a good job on the wing also Burgstaller showed that he can strength the team well. In defensive back Mössmer is still out and must be replaced by Petrak, what was the case last weekend already. Also suspended Pinola returns today and replace Bulthuis who is not in the squad anyway for today.

Wow, this encounter take place 41 times where the first match was 1935/36. Overall Nürnberg has the better outcome with 20 wins, 9 draw and 12 defeats. But in Düsseldorf it was not all well and the record is average there with 4-7-9. The last meeting was in Season 2012/13 which was won from Nürnberg 2-1.

According to the position of both teams and because of both must go for the win I am expecting a very open game above all if one team take the lead. This encounter can be stretched and wide open and the potential from both offensive lines are there to produce goals. Therefore I am very keen on the Over here.

FSV Mainz 05 - Eintracht Frankfurt

Statistic:

- Frankfurt could not win a single game in Mainz in 10 attempts (0-7-3).
- Mainz could win only 1 of the last 13 BL games (1-5-7).
- The last win was to begin of 2015 with 5-0 against Paderborn at home.
- Only Bayern (53) and Wolfsburg (46) scored more as Frankfurt (39).
- They conceded almost the most with 41 too, only Bremen with 43 are behind them.
- Mainz played in 50% of their games draw, this is the highest number in BL so far.
- In matches with Frankfurt on the pitch are always entertaining with an average from 3,8 goals.

After the bad run Mainz has do make some things clear and the first one was to suck their Coach. The next step was that they need a person who knows the club well and they are very keen in him to bring them forward. They did this already with Klopp, Tuchel and now Schmidt who comes from the second team and is their head coach now. He career is a bit funny if you read all his things he had done but nevertheless he can show his skills in Bundesliga now. According to their last style of play it is a lot to do and he has to work hard with the team to bring them back on track. With the derby ahead it is not the best start maybe but they have to go step by step. First keeper Karius is back after his suspension and in goal again also Schmidt counts on some experienced players like veteran Noveski who should help to bring more stability in their defensive play. On the wing can be Bell an option for Brosinski. The biggest question mark is behind important Hofmann and after some news it is likely that he must pass today.

Last weekend Coach Schaaf made his 500 games as Coach in BL and his team celebrated with him with a 1-0 win to Schalke. After a bad second half in Freiburg where they had controlled all but lost in the end because of too many mistakes they are doing better and better in defensive now. Coach Schaaf has maybe found the right balance between offensive and defensive. Nevertheless they have to work hard because Schalke has some good attempts but keeper Trapp was also in a good position to safe. Up front they have the weapons to score in every game. Above all Aigner, Stendera, Meier and Seferovic are very dangerous. One changes must be made because Hasebe is suspended and Coach Schaaf search for the right man. Some options are there with Russ who played in central back against Schalke, also Flum and Medojevic are alternatives.

Overall a very close match and all can happen in this derby. Of course a new Coach brings always some fire in the team and they are hot and motivated to show the new one on the line that he can count on them. But it is a special derby and the time was not to much to prepare for Schmidt, in this case I am looking more on Frankfurt to break the streak in Mainz and win the first time there. After the home performance against Schalke they are motivated and have a lot of self confidence as well.

SC Freiburg - 1899 Hoffenheim

Statistic:

- 1899 won only 1 of the last 10 games to Freiburg. 2-1 at home 2013, (1-6-3).
- Against no other BL-club Freiburg lost so less matches as to Hoffenheim.
- 5 from the last 7 derbies ended draw, 1-5-1.
- In the last 5 matches between these two sides are 25 goals, average from 5 !!!
- In this games scored Freiburg 13 times and Hoffenheim 12 times.
- The first match in Hoffenheim was a 3-3 draw and a huge entertaining one.
- With the 2-1 win last weekend could Hoffenheim stop their downtrend.
- Hoffenheim did not win two matches in a row this season.
- Freiburg scored 12 of their 23 goals after corner or free kick. The highest number in BL.
- In Berlin scored Freiburg after throw in and corner.

The situation was not the best in Freiburg above all after the bad performance against Dortmund where they were far away from Bundesliga level. Additional they had a lot of problems with injured and ill players before the game against Hertha. To the 5 already out players must pass Frantz and Höfler short before the game and made it not much better for Coach Steich to find the right starting lineup. But overall he has done a great job and he was also motivator with some statements he gave to the team. The changes he made was very successful and the guys on the pitch did a good job and they showed that they are still alive and fight for Bundesliga. It was a deserved and important win for them but nevertheless they are still in trouble and they have to look forward to bring their power on the next home game against Hoffenheim on the pitch as well. Maybe Coach Streich has a little bit more to choose from because some of the ill players of course return.

After 3 defeats in a row Hoffenheim could win the “Baden-Württemberg” Derby against rival VfB Stuttgart in the last seconds. They showed a great fighting spirit what gave the advantage in the end. In all the other matches 2015 they were playing good football with some nice passing sections but success was missed. This time they were much more focused to bring in the fighting spirit and were closer to their opponent players and allow them not much. If all thought this encounter end with a draw Rudy’s time has come with a great tackling who leads to a fast counter attack where Rudy scored. It is not clear what exact team stand on the pitch, Coach Gisdol is ill and stay at home. The second man in coaching team has to be the head on the sideline today. He hopes that Abraham and Stobl are ready according to their problems, also in offensive can be Szalai an option for Schipplock. 

It is always very tough to play in Freiburg. They have a very small stadium but the atmosphere is hot and this is one of their key advantages in BL so far. If they want to remain this season they have to collect Points above all at home but on the road they are to harmless. Nevertheless they got the important win although some players were ill also Coach Streich last weekend. I count on the good spirit in Team and the power and self confidence they have ein home games. Freiburg fight what is not the biggest thing for Hoffenheim with players like Firmino, Volland who want to play more.

Karlsruher SC - VfL Bochum

This is the match from two winner teams because both won last weekend. KSC is very close to the top and they can win a win close the gap to leader Ingolstadt more and more. But for this they need the first home win 2015 and if they get this all are open to talk from promotion also Coach Kauczinski. On the other side Bochum is in midfield of the table but is not far away from the red zone what means that they need still points to be absolutely sure and get not in trouble at the end.

The position from KSC is clear, they want the win but Coach Kauczinski has to replace some of his defensive players. Compared to the win in Heidenheim 1-0 he has not available suspended Valentini, injured Gordon and first keeper Orlishausen. All three are replaced as follows: Klingmann takes the back wing position, while Mauersberger replace Gordon in central back and plays beside Gulde. For the experienced keeper stands in goal Vollath what is the first match for him this season. Additional some changes in midfield are also possible. He was not very pleased with Meffert and Sallihi and both must fight to start again today. It is very open if they are in team but with Krebs is a very experienced player ready and he can play on the wing or in the middle and it is also possible that he changes the position with Yamada.

On the other side Coach Verbeek has not reason to changes his successful team from last weekend where they showed some good play and won 3-2 against Braunschweig. But it is not sure if DEF Fabian can play because of some muscle problems. If he must pass Cacutalua can play for him in central back and it should not such a problems as he has shown his strength this season already. All the other positions remain unchanged above all Terrazzino had a great game against Braunschweig and all hopes are again on him today. He was a former player from KSC and this makes it very interesting too as he should be huge motivated today. The only question mark is Latza who has a bad day against Braunschweig and was replace by Zahirovic at the break. Maybe he gets a chance again but the pressure from Zahirovic is big.

This encounter take place 52 times. With 21 wins, 18 draw and 13 defeats has Bochum the better times. But in Karlsruhe Bochum won 6, draw 10 and lost 8 and speaks a little for KSC. But overall the last home win from KSC against Bochum was 2008/09 and this was still to 1.Bundesliga times. Since then they were not able to score a single goal in 3 attempts at home against Bochum and played 0-2 and 0-0 and 0-0.

KSC at home this season with some problems and they had a lot of luck last weekend. I am sure that the problems in defensive line are not so easy to handle and this can be the chance for Bochum who are in a good situation after the first win under Coach Verbeek.

VfR Aalen - FC Ingolstadt 04

Here meet two teams each other which lost both last weekend. For Aalen it is getting worse because they are already 2 Points behind the safe zone and in this case they must collect Points while Ingolstadt is still 5 Points ahead and are leader. Therefore they have not such problems at all.

This is the third year in 2.Bundesliga for Aalen now but this is the weakest so far. They are far away from good and the offensive weakness is a key fact for such a bad run and they are in red zone for the first time. All the other seasons they could stay away from such a bad scenario but this time it looks like that they are not able to solve it. With only 15 goals scored they have the most weak offensive in 2.BL and have scored 2015 nothing. In both games they failed, 0-0 to Darmstadt and 0-1 to Kaiserslautern. According to the long injured Lechleitner, Drexler and Daghfous are three important offensive players not available and makes it not much easier because the alternatives are less. Therefore new signing Ademi is the big hope for Aalen up front but he was far away from good recently. Coach Ruthenbeck wants to change a bit but what can he change, with less alternatives he must count on the same starting eleven compared to the last games. Against Kaiserslautern he has made some changes but maybe he move back again.

After the first defeat Ingolstadt made a big reaction and won the following 4 league matches what was far away from predicted downtrend from some experts. After the surprise defeat to bottom side Sandhausen at home they want to show the next reaction and get back on track immediately. It was not all bad and therefore Coach Hasenhüttl does not change all after this weak performance. But overall the alternatives are there and the pressure on the players are high at the moment. It can be that he changes some. It looks like that Hinterseer is back in starting lineup and what player is out for him is open. It can be Lex or Hartmann but Lex has some injury problems and it is not sure if he can play therefore the problem can be solved easy maybe. A good alternative is also Winter signing Pledl who is very hot to start today. It is also a big game for Coach Hasenhüttl, because he returns to his old club.

Both teams meet each other 10 times where Ingolstadt has with 10 wins, 2 draw and 3 defeats a clear advantage. From the last three meetings lost Ingolstadt none, last season they won 2-0 at home and played 0-0 in Aalen while the pre-game this season was a clear thing with 4-1 for Ingolstadt.

FC St. Pauli - Greuther Fürth

A very important game for both teams above all after the results from weekend. Almost all won away from home like Aue, FSV and Sandhausen what put  St. Pauli who is already 3 Points away from the safe zone under huge pressure. Also Fürth needs Points urgently because they are only 5 Points ahead of the red zone and if the lose today it is getting more and more dangerous for them.

After the last trainings week Coach Lienen is thinking what he can do but it looks like he counts on the same starting lineup as in the last match to Sandhausen 0-0. But one change can be possible because striker Budimir has a very bad day and missed the winning goal in good position. Maybe Coach Lienen give him a rest. Some worries makes Koch who comes on loan from Mainz but was the best man for Pauli against Sandhausen. He has some muscle problems and is a big doubt for this match. If Koch must pass the next new signing with Cooper must take the part from Koch. But a lot of other options are possible too. Lienen has with Alushi, Cooper and Daube some players in hand. 

Compared to the last match against Ingolstadt Coach Kramer plans some changes some positions and also tactic wise as well. He stands under huge pressure according to the long winless run and he needs results immediately. It is very possible that new signing Philp gives his debut for Fürth today. He plays on the right wing and replace Korcsmar who is central defender and played last time there because of less alternatives on this position. Also good news is the return from both Fürstner and Schröck who should help to give their play more power and compactness. Fürstner is planned for the positon beside Caligiuri in central midfield, therefore the last practiced system 4-1-4-1 moves to 4-2-3-1. Schröck can play on both sides in offensive and replace one of the weak players Lam or Weilandt. It is open if not both are on bench because with Wurtz and Przybylko are a lot of alternatives there. But Weilandt has a lot of potential and he showed this already this season what let Coach Kramer think to give him the next chance today. 

In 2.Bundesliga the teams meet each other 21 times where Fürth won 9 times, draw 9 and lost only 3. St. Pauli has not the best record against Fürth and at home they are winless since 1997/98. In this period they are 1-7-2 against today’s opponent. The last three matches end all 2-2.

1.FC Nürnberg - Union Berlin

Both teams have 27 Points on their side and they are far away from top places and are to good for the bottom zone. Therefore they are only in midfield but the aims were set much higher before the season. In this case they need a very good streak to come closer to the top but if it is possible with such an average play right now?

After the 1-2 defeat in Frankfurt by FSV all in Nürnberg are disappointed and they hoped for a good start to have the chance to climb up and put some pressure on the teams above but right now they have to bring this season to a good end nothing less and nothing more. Weiler had a good record after he took over but after the last result he said that promotion is far away for them this season. He wants to work for a solid play and build up a good team that they can start next season the big thing promotion. Nevertheless they have to play some games and they can not allow to present some gifts now. They want to start winning today to bring the good feeling and mood back into the squad. Compared to the last game he has to change on the left wing because with Pinola is the man suspended what brings Bulthuis back into the squad although he has not the best standing by the Coach. According to this reason Weiler thinks to change more, he wants to move Celustka from right to the left and let Pachonik play on the right wing then. A big question mark is also behind central defender Mössmer, his replacement can be youngster Stark maybe. The offensive can be changes as well as he was not very pleased with the performance with his offensive wings. Füllkrug was a big disaster but the alternatives are less and if he change he can bring Mlapa but he is more a striker who plays in the box as he is tall.

Union was shocked after the bad message from Köhler's illness but they give him something back with the win against Bochum. Also the things they have done in this game for him are a big statement and hopefully a great sign for him never give up. We have a match between two sides with a big different style of play. The home side stands for spectacle and a lot of goals in each way, on the other side stands a team who is only defensive minded and try to defend the whole match while up front they hope for one good action to get a narrow win in the end.

The sign for this encounter is not the best above all Frankfurt has a lot of problems in their defensive zone. Nevertheless they had the problems already before this encounter but they will not be solved these days anyway. With DEF Zambrano they have one guy suspended while his partner in central back Anderson has problems with illness this week. Coach Schaaf does not think to change his style of play as he mentioned already that “Not the teams with the most conceded goals were relegated recently, but the teams who scored less”. This means that Frankfurt are far away from this scenario as they have a great offensive line with Meier, Aigner, Seferovic and the standards from midfielder Stendera.

Today’s opponent Schalke 04 plays more and more awful above all the offensive play is not the best and they are only focused to be as compact as they can and are more and more defensive minded. This is the style of Coach Matteo who has implemented it more and more. Some good news as with Prince Boateng, Uchida and Sam are some back in training and can help to give the offensive play more power. Despite these guys a lot of players are still injured and top striker Huntelaar is still suspended. He has to work with the guys who are available and try to have the best possible success. He does well with this style and of course he does not change much for the hard match in Frankfurt. But a bit more risk in their offensive actions and in some period of the game would be appreciated.

This can be an entertaining game although Schalke is very defensive minded but Frankfurt plays very open and with the problems in their defense it is a good choice to go for goals here. I am sure that Frankfurt is able to score against this Schalke and on the other side they are always good to concede. The facts and problems are there and I am sure that Coach Schaaf try to push and control the game and open more and more.

FC Ingolstadt 04 - SV Sandhausen

After their successful start with 1-0 in Fürth into the new year aiming Ingolstadt to walk on today. The top team hosts bottom team Sandhausen for the next step to promotion. They can expect a huge support because two days ago they sold already 8000 tickets and this is huge for Ingolstadt. The crowd get more and more a feeling that there can be a fantastic season with FCI and end up in promotion while Sandhausen needs Points urgently against relegation.

The Coach from Ingolstadt Hasenhüttl was very pleased with the performance from his team in Fürth. He said that the first half was already close to the optimum but in the second half it was more and more shown from Fürth that they can be hurt above all with long passes where they midfield has not real option to press. A reason for changes are not there and all expect the same starting lineup compared to Fürth. Long term injured players like Da Costa or Eigler are not ready at all. The best defensive line with only 14 goals conceded did a great job and they are well balanced, so why change here anything. In midfield the positions are also clear, the only offensive where Coach Hasenhüttl has to field up 3 players is a bit more open because he has a lot of alternatives there. The attack can be build with Hintersser who is sure in the starting lineup, behind him with Lex, Hartmann, Leckie and new signing Pledl are all candidates for the last 2 positions in team. After Leckie returns form the Asia Cup he was only on bench against Fürth but with his potential he is maybe a must to play. But Hartmann and Lex played really well last weekend so it can be that Hasenhüttl counts on the same but if not, this can be the changes. In first half of the season Hasenhüttl counts on Leckie and Lex who are very quick and can overcome the defensive with their moves easy. In this case Hartmann must on bench .......

After the first match with 0-0 against neighbor Pauli in a bottom battle the situation is not the best and the atmosphere as well. Most of the guys are very negative right now and the play was really awful, they could not create much and get not dangerous. But it is well known in Sandhausen that they are not a scoring machine and they have to fight hard for goals and points. In this case Coach Schwartz are trying to find out what is the best for his team. The defensive line is ok and should be the same again but in midfield and offensive he wants more power and fresh players. This can be that he changes here a bit. With Linsmayer is a player back from suspension who can help immediately and he was one of the key players recently. With Kilobits and Zellner he has two defensive minded players at his side and this means that the tactic is more a defensive minded today. The only offensive midfield player in this system is Stiefler. Both Bieler and Okoronkwo had last a bad day and must on bench. Also up front is Gartler out of the team after a weak performance. Bouhaddouz can replace him and play beside Wooten but also Adler and Jovanovic are options for today.

This team meet each other 9 times and the record is curious. Ingolstadt leads this duel with 4 wins, 3 draw and 2 defeats but all the wins they celebrated in Sandhausen, at home they are winless against SVS so far. At home they are 0-3-1 what speak not much for them in their Arena. The last match in Ingolstadt ended 2-0 for SVS while Ingolstadt won the fixture 2-0 and 3-0 last in Sandhausen.

Fortuna Düsseldorf - Erzgebirge Aue

This encounter includes different teams because Düsseldorf is only 2 Points behind the top 3 and in promotion battle while Aue was on the bottom but with the win against Leipzig they climbed a bit but they are not out of the red zone but got a lot of self confidence back and with a win here they can push them out.

To the start into league matches 2015 Düsseldorf played the top match in Karlsruhe and they were able to collect a Point there. They started again with three mens in central back but this time they must change to the normal practiced back line because with both central defenders Tah and Soares out suspended they have a big problem there and Coach Reck must find the right players and balance there for today. With Bomheuer and Bodzek he wants to build up the central back. In central midfield he has to choose between long term injured Fink who is back but his partner Gartner is injured and behind Pinto stands a big question mark, if he must pass, veteran Lampertz or Bellinghausen are the options there. They need a lot more power in offensive play according to the last road match above all at home. Coach Reck counts here on Liendl who should be supported by Halloran, Erat or Bolly.

Aue’s Coach Stipic signed a new contract till 2017, this was the next big sign from the Management in relegation battle after they made all wishes possible for Stipic with 8 new winter signings. The things are clear now and Stipic handle the pressure well and gave his team a new balance what was seen in the last home game against Leipzig with a 2-0 win. This gave a lot of self confidence and motivation back for the big fight against relegation. All know the situation and they are doing well together. They do not only fight football, no, they have some good passing sections in their play as well and the new formed offensive line showed this already. Duo to the suspension from Novikovas Stipic must find a new guy who starts. There are some options right now with Kortzorg or Müller who plays this part 1to1 or he move back to a more defensive minded style away from home with two central midfield players. In this case Benatelli or Schröder are options beside Schönfeld in central midfield. All the other positions remain unchanged after the great play against Leipzig.

After 13 duels the record speaks clear for Düsseldorf with 8 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats. In their own Arena they are 5-1-0 in 6 matches against Aue. The last home matches was won easy with 4-0 while the first duel this season 3-0. It looks that Düsseldorf loves to play Aue !!!

TSV 1860 München - FC Heidenheim

A lot of potential has the encounter between 1860 Munich and Heidenheim this monday evening. The home team 1860 can be the winner of the Round from all bottom teams with a win. The only one who is a option for van Ahlen is Annan who made some good training sessions and is absolutely in good shape. Very good news is that Okotie is back after injury and he is the most important man for 1860 right now in attack. Behind him on the wings are playing Claaßen and Rama who is additional fit again after some problems. Youngster Schindler lost the fight for a place in central back, now playing Vallori and Kagelmacher there.

Average preparation for Heidenheim but important one, the newcomer must look forward to get not involved in relegation battle. Therefore important second part of the season ahead of them. Also in attack where Niederlechner plays for sure but beside him is still open. With new singing Vogelsammer, Morabit, Mayer and Grimaldi are fighting 4 for 1 open place. It looks like that Vogelsammer win here and both who came from Unterhaching build up the striker duo today.

Both teams meet each other only 2 times. First one was in Cup where 1860 won after penalties and advance to next round while the first match this season ended 2-2.

It seems Bremen has found the right man on the line like Rehagel and Schaaf was because Skripnik played under Schaaf and he knows the philosophy from Werder very well and he knows the business and how to do his job with this job as well. He has success and this is the key in this hard business Bundesliga. They are on a good run and open the gap to the red zone more and more, with a win today they can climb up to the top half what is a big step for them anyway. It is very interesting to see when a team has their self confidence back what they are able to bring on the pitch. They have much more trust in their actions and they run and give all for the team. Also the mistakes are much more less as in other situations. I do not know what Skripnik has done with this guys but they are really fresh and they like to play under him and follow him very well. It looks like that the same eleven starts as in the last two games while only top striker Di Santo had some problems under the week but I expect him to play today.

I can only say wow and what has Leverkusen played to begin of the season and who they press and attack their opponents but this is all gone and a lot of players look tired or out of form. The winter break has not brought much positive back in Leverkusen's play. They did hard and do again. Against Dortmund it was hard to play against a more defensive minded team, also against Hertha they need an individual mistake from Hertha's defensive otherwise they had not scored there. All the top offensive weapons Bellarabi, Son (is back from Asia Cup today), Calhanoglu, Drmic and Kießling searching for their form. They are not able to create a lot of dangerous opportunities and if they are not able to finish them. Coach Schmitt has a lot of work to do in my eyes and if he can not bring the team back or away from such play it is hard to have success. Ok, they can go out and hope for their stability of the defensive and maybe with luck they win 1-0. But what is to do if the opponent score against them in some matches, they have problems as they are not able to score more as 1 goal if we have seen in the past.

I go for Bremen once again, I like the play from them and they are so incredible at the moment. I can not see that they are not able to score above all with the youngsters who are very quick to overcome players like old Spahic. Selke, Bartels, Di Santo, Junuzovic are all in good shape and able to score. On the other side the defensive line from Bremen is much better now and they are doing not so many mistakes anymore what makes it much more difficult for Leverkusen's offensive. I do not see much difference here between both if we compare the last games and with this HC I have to go with the inform home team.

Karlsruher SC - Fortuna Düsseldorf

This is and absolutely top match between KSC and Fortuna and also a very important sign how the teams go in the next weeks. After the Point from Darmstadt on Friday KSC is down to 3rd place but can overcome them with a draw again. But also for Fortuna it is a lot possible above all if they win this encounter they climb up to 2nd place for themselves here. It is only possible because the next top match is between Braunschweig and Kaiserslautern.

The winter break has not done much for KSC, they are absolutely in the same form as before. Before the break they won easy against FSV 4-1 and in their preparation to second half of the season they showed some good results and play too. With Großasbach 2-1, FSV 3-0, Freiburg 5-0 were all won but also the friendlies who were not won against Basel 2-2 and Wolfsburg 1-2 were very good from them and let them hope for a good and important second half and in the end with promotion back in 1.Bundesliga. The team from Coach Kauczinski has a lot of self confidence and motivation after this good run and they are hot to start today.
Kauczinski has almost all players ready, only long term injured Traut and youngster Mehlem who got injured in trainings camp are not available today but nevertheless he has to choose form a very good and deep squad. Both central defenders Gordon and Gulde must hold their level because with Mauersberger is a player behind them who is very close to move into the starting lineup. Also in midfield with Yabo and Meffert who has pressure from Peitz and Krebs. In offensive they have with Yamada and Nazarov two offensive players but with Krebs also a alternative here. But the most important singing was Salkahi from Bayern Munich Am. who is a fresh and quick player and brings a lot of power into the offensive play for KSC. He starts immediately and beside him on the other wing Torres. Both should try to push from behind and bring the defensive line form Düsseldorf in danger. In attack he has to choose from Hennings or Micanski, both are not such bad in this league.

Now we come to Düsseldorf who had some problems to prepare for this part of the season right now. They won against Fortuna Köln 4-0, Skenderbeu 2-0, FT Braunschweig 6-1 but lost also against Grasshoppers 0-3, Basel 1-2 and disappointed against Meppen 0-0. But the most important test was at home against Dortmund where they played really good soccer and with the new build defensive line with only 3 players like Guardiola did sometimes in Munich they draw 1-1 in an exiting match. But nevertheless we all know the strength from Dortmund at the moment, nothing special. According to the good coordination and good play from the defensive line it is not so far away that Coach Reck count on this tactic again today. With Bodzek, Soares and Tah there are 3 defenders who are set to play this part. Also midfield player Liendl has a new part he moves from the wing to the central position in midfield and he showed a really uptrend there and looks more and more inform. Coach Reck said that this is only a option under more systems he can play with his team. But if he take this in mind as written above it looks like that the following players are out of the team .... Bolly and Halloran. In attack he counts on two strikers with Pohjanpalo and Benschop while Hoffer sit on bench at least. In midfield defensiv plays Gartner because of the injury of Avevor. On both wings are playing Schmitz and Schauerte. It is a system like 3-5-2.

Both teams meet each other 39 times while KSC could win 17, draw 9 and lost 13. But in the 2.Bundesliga the record is 4-3-4. The last 4 games ended all without a home win. The one win who is in mind was Düsseldorf's 5-0 win on the 24.Round in Season 2011/12. But KSC took revenge with two wins in a row in Düsseldorf already. The last meeting in Karlsruhe was a 2-2 draw.

SC Freiburg - Borussia Dortmund

Statistic:

- Only 16 Points after 19 Rounds is the second weakest in BL history for Dortmund.
- In their weakest season they had 15 Points and were relegated at the end of Season 71/72.
- Also the 18 goals scored are a new negative record for the club.
- Most of the goals against from both teams were because of individual faults (BvB 9x / SCF 8x).
- At the last match day, it was due to Günter SCF and Schmelzer BvB both left wings with mistakes.
- The last 7 games against teams from the bottom half of the table lost Dortmund !!!
- The last win against a team from this area was against Freiburg on 3 Round with 3-1.
- 11 from the 18 Points collected Freiburg at home, they are much stronger there as on the road.
- Only 1 of the last 5 games in their own stadium have they lost (2-2-1).
- In all 15 BL games against Freiburg scored Dortmund at least 1 goal.

Ok, Freiburg is in trouble but they know this situation very well and they know how to handle this anyway. All in and around the club are very focused on the only goal to remain in BL. All are working hard and believe in their work, otherwise you can not competed with such big clubs in BL. Season after season Freiburg has to fight hard, sometimes it was easier but at the moment it is hard but they are doing well anyway although they lost in Gladbach. They did a great job there and were in the game very well, maybe they should have deserved a point there. At home they celebrated a great comeback against Frankfurt after they were 0-1 down. The moral and motivation is great in team and they going together what makes it so hard to play them. If they come in rolling it is hard to stop them above all the offensive line has a lot of potential, the defensive is a bit shaky and make a lot of mistakes. Additional they had some problems in the past there because Coach Streich has to replace 3 defenders and this is a big number for such a small club. In attack they miss only important Mehmedi but with Petersen and Möller Daehli they have two new guys who do a good job so far.

Wow, wow, wow, what a run from Dortmund, they are not able to get all their power on the pitch and the players look like nervous and unstable. They do not work as a team and their style of play is awful right now. They are not able to create opportunities to score some goals although the offensive line with Reus, Kampl, Aubameyang and Immobile is not such a big disaster on paper. It is maybe they wait a long time for a goal and if this come it is all open for them and they get some self confidence back and maybe get on rolling. All talk they are to good for a bottom team but if you stand on the bottom of the table it is the truth. You have to work harder and not only talk and talk. Sooner or later the games are less and the Points too and no one can help Dortmund then. Therefore they have to awake now and maybe this is the right opponent to the right time because they love to play against Freiburg and did not lose much Points against this club.

Overall I expect an open game if the first goal comes and both teams get their space then. Both have the weapons above all in offensive to score and because of the weak point of both in defensive it can be a good choice for some individual faults again which leads to some goals. I prefer the Over for this reason here !!!

Union Berlin - VfL Bochum

The teams are neighbors on table at 10. and 11. what means that they are not far away from the red zone. Both teams did not know where they stand right now after the winter break and this is their first and important test. They need Points immediately as they do not want to get involved in the relegation battle in this case the first game is important to walk on and go step by step. If you start with a lose it is always hard to get the right feeling back for the next match in this case it looks like that the statement for this encounter is "no lose".

After a big disaster to begin of the season they did better in the last matches before the break despite they lost 0-1 in Düsseldorf but they look forward and they were absolutely confident about the last matches this season. The friendlies were not the best at all and the results anyway. It was Ludogerets 1-0, Luzern 0-1 and Esbjerg 1-2 and with this results it was not a big step and it was also far away from euphoria. Additional they had some blows too with the injury from Thiel (shoulder), Leistner (suspended) and the illness from MID Köhler who suffer on cancer. This was not the best message before this important game and the football was not the first thing some days for Union. Nevertheless Coach Düwel has to prepare his team for the game against Bochum and they have to look forward.They want to play for Köhler and give him some motivation and power back for his way back. Also they signed some new players, first one Sulejmani from Hannover sit on bench as alternative first as with Polter and Skrzybski are two attackers are already set to play in Düwel's system. Behind both are expected to play quick players like Quiring and Brandy who should rotate a big and bring the defensive line from Bochum in some trouble. In central midfield plays Zejnullahu and Kreilach while the defensive line will be build with Schönheim, Puncec, Parensen and Trimmel.

This is the first match for new Coach Verbeek, yes he is back after his engagement in Nürnberg. He wants to bring in the same philosophy as in Nürnberg and this means that they defend very high and press also. Maybe a bit hard to learn and some open space for the opponent in some matches but if the system works it can be great but the team needs also a lot of condition. This was the key point in their preparation and the results form the friendlies were as follows .... Cercle Brügge 0-1, Lima 1-0, Erfurt 3-1, Bayern München 1-5 and Fürth 1-1. There are some positive trends to see in some matches but it takes time and the situation was not the best anyway as they had a lot of injury problems. For this reason it is a bit of a mess and Coach Verbeek searching for the right players because with Simunek, Bulut, Weis and Tasaka miss he additional players today to the already long injured players like Gyamerah, Holthaus, Butcher and Gregoritsch are overall 8 players missed today.
Back in team and in the starting eleven is keeper Luthe who has some problems too but Coach Verbeek think to let Esser in goal and sit Luthe on the bench. New signing Bastians plays instead of Cacutalua and beside him Fabian in central back. The second new one is Eisfeld but he is not destined for the first eleven, only as alternative on bench. Greuther Fürth - FC Ingolstadt 04

The first match after the winter break is a derby between Fürth and Ingolstadt. Leader Ingolstadt is trying to get rolling again and defend their 7 Points lead to the second place while Fürth has to look a bit downwards because with only 6 Points to the red zone it is not such a big advantage right now. To the top they have already 10 Points and this is far away and they should try to bring this season to a successful end.

It is very important for Fürth to get the right feeling back because they coming to this encounter with 7 winless games before the winter break and they scored not a single goal in the last 5. For this reason Coach Kramer put a lot of effort into the offensive play and he want to play in a new tactic 4-1-4-1 to get more dangerous. In all their friendly matches it was some success to see and they scored some goals Bern 4-2, Augsburg 1-2, Thun 3-0 and Bochum 1-1. Also in their squad it was a lot of rotation in the break and they sold or singed some players. With 4 new players they want to have more alternatives in their squad and strength them as well. Philp came from Augsburg and should play on the right wing but he is injured right now, also midfield player Fürstner and Schröck is suspended what means that 3 important guys are already out. The only two who are expected in the starting lineup is DEF Thesker from Hoffenheim and STR Freis from Freiburg. The central back should be build with Röcker and Thesker while Caligiuri plays the position before the central back. It is only becausese Sukalo is not an option right now after his injury and is only on bench today. The preparation showed some surprise, with Trinks and Lam are two players winner of the preparation although they were already out of the squad last December. On the right wing they have some problems with the absent players, therefore Korcsmar must take this but he has no experience there.

Ingolstadt is playing a big season so far and they were unbeaten since they arrived in Nürnberg. In this encounter they lost the first time and many of the experts means that the downtrend arrived now but they showed that they are able to continue their way and a lot of potential is in their squad anyway. With 13 Points in the last 5 games before the winter break they celebrated their strength very well. To begin of the preparation to the second half of the season was not all well and they showed some weakness against Unterhaching 4-3 and Luzern 0-1 but against Rijeka 1-1, Grasshoppers 6-0 and Linz 2-0 they showed their real face and strength. With DEF Hübner, MID Groß and STR Leckie they missed 3 important starters in the last test. Nevertheless all are ready for today’s game and in the squad. Both Hübner and Groß are expected to start today while it is not sure if Coach Hasenhüttl counts on Leckie who was with his national team Australia involved in the Asia Cup and won the competition. He arrived late on Tuesday and was not involved in preparation much what let Coach Hasenhüttl think to sit him on bench today. With Hartmann and Pledl who came from Fürth in the winter break are two alternatives ready, above all Pledl are really hot to play against his old club and team mates. 

This encounter take place 9 times in 2.Bundesliga and Fürth has with 4-2-3 the better outcome right now. From the last 4 games won Fürth 3 but the last one won Ingolstadt 1-0. The first match in Ingolstadt this season won FCI 2-0. Fürth is waiting since 4 matches to score a goal against Ingolstadt according to the last results.

Bayern München - FC Schalke 04

Statistic:

- Bayern won 7 of the last 8 BL games against Schalke, first match ended 1-1 this season.
- In these 8 games they allowed only 3 goals for S04.
- The highest lose in BL history was 38 years ago against Schalke with 0-7.
- Schalke won 5 of their last 7 BL games (5-1-1).
- Only Bayern had more success in this period with 18 Points collected.
- On Friday Bayern Munich allowed Wolfsburg to score 4 goals, the same number they concede in 17.
- Schalke 04 miss top striker Huntelaar who scored 10 goals and is an important fact for them.

No one expected such a big defeat from Bayern against Wolfsburg but it happened sometimes above all after the break if you do not know at what level you are. It was a big disappointment for them and they have to learn above all they must be more compact in their defensive play and should not give so much space to allow fast counter attacks. It was seen that the defending duo Dante and Boateng are much to slow above all Dante. I am sure it was the right time for Bayern to get warned and they learn from this and Coach Guardiola thinking a lot how to solve this problems. Once again some players are not available but of course we see a different face from Bayern today.

Schalke on the other side had some problems against Hannover and they had also not their best level. It was more hard work to get the win above all after top striker Huntelaar made a big mistake with his foul who was absolutely to correct rewarded with a red card. No one knows what was his thoughts there but he is suspended for 6 !!! games now. Incredible if you take a look at his stats and how important he is for Schalke. This makes it not much easier for Coach Matteo above all they have not the speed to hurt Bayern with such a fast offensive play like Wolfsburg did. They play more slow and this is easy to defend for Bayern. Meyer, Boateng, Choupo Mouting and Barnetta are much to inflexible in their offensive actions.

After Bayern Munich lost big to Wolfsburg, Schalke is the first team who must suffer for this lose. I do not see the weapons on Schalke's side to hurt Bayern here. Clear home win expected.

Tuesday Update !!!

Bor. M'Gladbach - SC Freiburg

Statistic:

- Gladbach won only 2 of the last 11 matches against Freiburg (2-4-5).
- In these 11 matches they were able to score 7 goals while scoring nothing in 6.
- Gladbach is in all competitions since 28 years after the winter break. Last time it was 86/87.
- Freiburg won only 1 of the last 13 road games (1-6-6).

- H96 is unbeaten at home against Mainz so far (4-4-0).
- This is the best number they have against all actual BL team.
- Mainz celebrated their highest win in BL history against Paderborn with 5-0 on the last weekend.
- FSV scored more goals in this match as in the last 5 match days (4).
- Hannover got not much in the past. Only 5 from 21 possible Points.
- Mainz is winless since 7 road games and their run is 0-4-3.
- The only win on the road was in Berlin against Hertha with 3-1.
- Mainz lost the most Points from all teams this season after they took the lead (14).
- On the other side H96 lost only 2, same number has Bayern.

Week 5 !!!

Statistic:

- The last time Hertha could celebrate a win in Bremen was 2006 with a 3-0 win.
- Since then, Bremen won all their 6 home games and they scored 17 goals and conceded 6.
- In 2014 Hertha was not able to win two times in a row, because of their weakness on the road.

Very important match for both sides. Bremen has the chance to come a bit more out of the red zone and on the other side they can with a win bring Hertha more and more in trouble. For this encounter Coach Skripnik maybe counts on the same successful eleven who did very well at the end of the last year. Nevertheless with Makiadi (African Cup), Prödl (injured) they miss two good guys but they signed with Vestergaard from 1899 Hoffenheim a new defender who maybe give his debut today. All other positions remain unchanged, this is the only position where Skripnik maybe change. Also important to see that Di Santo is full fit again and he can help the team.

Hertha has a lot of problems lately. They were much to weak on the road and can not bring much danger in their play. Normally they have the weapons with fast wings like Stocker, Schulz and Ben Hatira but if we take a look on their injury list it can be a big sign as well. They have to replace Hosogai (suspended), Baumjohann, Cicergi, Ben Hatira (are all suspended) and Kalou (African Cup). It is a huge blow above all some important players on the list what makes it not much easier for Coach Luhukay to find the right mix and balance in team.

I am very kenn on Bremen today. If we take a look back to the first match where Hertha dominated and controlled Werder easily and lead already 2-0 but after the break Bremen showed a real good reaction and comeback into the game to end up with a draw. I am sure that Bremen is aware from Hertha now and they have additional a good feeling at home from their last games what help too. The odd is a bit down already but I think the DNB chance is a good option for this encounter.
