The bomb burst at midday as many news stations came oout with news that Bayern Munich sacked their Manager Christian Nerlinger and present with Matthias Sammer the new Sport Manager. After some time Bayern Munich gave the confirmation. None around in this szene understand such a reaction from them. What are the reasons behind?
Nerlinger worked 4 years for Bayern in this position and was very successful at the beginning where they won the Championship and Cup also at the same season they were in Champions League Final but lost to Inter Mailand. One season later he signed no new players as coach van Gaal said to him he needs no one. He worked almost with the same team but with less success and he was sacked then from Nerlinger. But if you know the philosophy and high standard from this club ... 2nd place is not enough and 2 years without any Cup in their hands is more or less lost time.
Nerlinger blows out 61 Mio for new players but without much success and this is the key, and maybe what counts for this ambitions. Höneß said in an interview that also some different views about the future from the team was there and in this case they have to do this step.
New man Sammer is the big man now. He gets much more potency as Nerlinger has and is called "Sport Manager". He proofed his knowledge and excellent apprecation at the German Football Association (DFB) for 6 years. He changed a lot for DFB above all the youth teams are more successfully now. Also their scouting have much more quality and so on.
