VfR Aalen - 1.FC Köln

In Germany we had Cup matches during this week and both teams were involved but with different success. Small club VfR Aalen had to play in Wolfsburg where they knocked out with 0-2, although they had some good chances to take the lead while Cologne managed to surprise in Mainz with a 1-0 win against the Bundesliga team. They showed their good form there and it looks like that they are very hard to beat at the moment. Nevertheless Cup was, it goes back to normal business and three important Points for both clubs. Despite their Cup coup in Mainz Cologne has to look forward for revenge against Aalen. Almost same situation last season when Cologne arrived in Aalen after a difficult Cup match against Worms where  they advanced only after Penalty shot out and were very tired and lost 0-2 in the end here. Some players spoke already about this situation and they want revenge.
Aalen Coach Stefan Ruthenbeck was not very unsatisfied with the performance despite the defeat of his team in Wolfsburg. He will probably not change too much against Cologne today. Once again Daniel Buballa is out for this game as he suffered his broken nose since last week. Therefore offensive wing Enrico Valentini will probably have to help again at left back. His position was taken from Japanese Takuma Abe against Wolfsburg but this can change here as with Reichwein Ruthenbeck counts on a other player here. Reichwein can play as the only one striker in the middle and can be supported from Lechleitner and Klauß on the wings. It is still unclear if Manuel Junglas can play from beginning on as he was only available for some minutes in Cup because of slight injury problems. If he must pass today it would be the chance from Jürgen Mössmer who played in Wolfsburg on the same position already.
In Cologne expecting many that Coach Stöger rotates back to normal staring lineup from the past as some players got a chance in Cup vs. Mainz and they showed that they are good replacements as well. This gives Stöger a lot of alternatives and a long bench anyway. Both Daniel Halfar and Patrick Helmes were sitting on the bench under the week but should move in the starting lineup again. This can cost Peszko and Matuschyk the place in starting lineup. Also they make a system switch from 4-2-3-1 who was practiced against Mainz, back to previous 4-4-2 who brought success against Cottbus 4-0 and Kaiserslautern 0-0. With the striker duo Helmes and Ujah up front they looked very strong in these matches and bring a lot of danger additional. At center back Kevin Wimmer, meanwhile, has established his place alongside Maroh and displaced Bruno Nascimento until his retirement due to injury against Kaiserslautern. Also in Aalen Stoeger Coach has thus again a strong bench with alternatives in all parts of the team, although the long injured Kevin McKenna, Thomas Bröker and Adil Chihi still need some time.
