Eintracht Frankfurt - Bor. M'Gladbach

This one is a very interesting match because both are in a position where they need some Points. The home side is still fighting for European Spot despite they are winless since 3 matches. But nevertheless the race for Europe is very slow and almost all teams failed lately. On the other side Gladbach is in a very good position to secure a place for Champions league. At the moment they are third but fight with Leverkusen to be third or fourth.

The most entertaining team of BL comes from Frankfurt, they are doing very well this season despite conceding like hell. With 57 goals conceded they have one of the weakest defensive lines in BL but the offensive is one of the best with 51 goals scored. Only the offensive held Frankfurt alive this season and put them in a very good position right now. But the last weeks were not so positive for them if you take a look on the huge injury from Meier (best scorer with 19 goals) who is out for the rest of the season after his knee op. Because of him and also of the absent from Stendera who is suspended and central defender Zambrano Coach Schaaf is thinking of a new tactic. Normally they are very offensive minded with 4-4-2 and have not the compactness in midfield or central back to hold the opponents away from their goal. This time against Gladbach they can not allow so much space above all against such good counter attacks and so fast players from Gladbach. Therefore Schaaf is trying to come back to the old preferred tactic from former Coach Veh 4-2-3-1. This means that they have one more defensive midfield player on the pitch as normal. With Flum and Medojevic they have to in back but they have not real match praxis because Schaaf does not count on them. It is more expected that Ignovski plays beside Hasebe there. The three offensive players can be Kittel, Seferovic and Aigner but last one had some problems this training week and is doubtful. The first replacement can be Inui but he can play also for Kittel. This is up to Coach Schaaf what he puts up.

The team of the moment Gladbach coming from 4 wins in a row and they are aiming for the next one here. The style of play was different because against Bayern and Dortmund they played really defensive minded and go only for counter attacks but this works not against all teams. Also that they can take the lead and take advantage of this for their play what was seen against Bayern and also Dortmund. This style was very passive and they do not want to take part in the game, only if they have the opportunity for counter attacks. Against teams like Frankfurt they are more in the position to take part. This can be that Coach Favre has to think a bit about a new tactic. The players are there for sure as only central defender Stranzl is not available. With Kramer back from suspension they have more options in midfield as well. In offensive they have a lot of players to choose from like Raffael, Kruse, Herrmann, Hazard, Johnson, Hahn and Hrgota. Last one got no real chance since they knocked out form Euro League. What offensive lineup Favre put up it open but none of them is a bad decision.

I know it is a risky one but I am trying it because both are fighting still for their goals and I am sure that Frankfurt gives this away without any battle. Additional Frankfurt is unbeaten since 8 matches at home and was only without any chance against Bayern 0-4, all the other matches they were close. And that they are able to hurt teams was seen very well against Wolfsburg 1-1. If they can allow Gladbach less space and are ahead of the counter attacks they are able to get here something. It is all up to their style of play as they are always able to score in their own arena. On the other side Gladbach won only 5 of their 14 road games and had some problems there anyway. Sorry but I see Gladbach not as such a favorite although they are full and Frankfurt with some absent players.
