MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Michael Frontzeck has certainly got Kaiserslautern heading in the right direction, with three wins out of five league matches. However, their 2-1 defeat at Aue last Saturday was a real setback and the team are now six points from safety with only ten matches to go. Victories have now become more important than ever and the team will be desperate to return to winning ways as quickly as possible.

Andre Hofschneider’s Union Berlin are still in with a shout of making the playoffs this season. Following an important 2-1 home win against Sandhausen last Saturday the ‘Iron Ones’ have lost just two of the last six 2. Bundesliga fixtures and they remain seventh as they are trailing third-placed Holstein Kiel by only three points.

This is a crucial fixture for both, which neither side can afford to lose. However, Kaiserslautern’s form at Betzenberg has picked up of late, awith only two defeats in their last five. I think they should have enough to seal a crucial home win over weak travellers Union Berlin, who claimed their last away win in mid-October. Put your money on a victory for the Red Devils.

SECOND PREDICTION: HALF TIME HAD – HOME WIN

Kaiserslautern have been leading at the break in all of their last three league wins while Union Berlin have been ahead after 45 minutes in only one of their last six on away turf. I fancy Kaiserslautern to be winning at half time.

HEAD TO HEAD

The teams have met only six times in the 2. Bundesliga at Kaiserslautern since 2010, with the hosts winning three and drawing three.
