1.FC Kaiserslautern - SC Paderborn

After two defeats in a row at Dresden and last monday to Düsseldorf it is very important to get back on track for Kaiserslautern now. After they were on top they won nothing and fall down to third place but it is very close as some teams are only one Point behind and if they do not want to fall out of the promotion places they must win today. The pressure is of course high but they must start the second half of the season better as the first half has ended for them. This is almost the same situation as last seaseon as they were not able to follow Braunschweig and Hertha as they had a weak period and this is the key at the moment, they should not open the gap to match to Fürth and Cologne. Their opponent Paderborn was also on a bad run of 4 matches winless but they managed to win last sunday therefore the pressure is gone but they need also points agianst relegation as they are not far away from drop zone. But overall they see this match more as some bonus, if they get here anything.

Kaiserslautern’s coach Runjaic will probably change his team compared to the defeat to Düsseldorf on monday. In a attack this is a must as with Occean he has one striker less as he got injured (broken nose) and can not play. For him move Zoller into the starting lineup and plays beside Mo Idrissou who is not in his best shape at the moment. In addtition is likely that Gaus begins after coming only from bench on monday after his suspension. But it is not out if Coach Runjaic change only position wise or maybe give a more offensive minded starting eleven a new chance to get the win.

After 4 winless matches Paderborn’s coach Breitenreiter changed on six position before the match in Aalen. He hoped to get the important win and he was right and they played overall a very good match away from home and as he was very pleased with almost all. Therefore no changes are expected for this encounter. Of course the alternatives are less as with Krösche and Wemmer are two important players not available. For top striker Saglik which surprisingly remained 90 minutes on bench in Aalen is probably again no place in starting eleven today. As youngster Saliou Sane made his job very well and was able to convince a lot at his starting debut with scoring a goal and working hard for his team up front. If Paderborn is playing away it is always entertainment as they scoring and conceding a lot. They are now at 21-23 goals on the road, in 9 matches 44 goals were they are involved. Therefore all 9 games went over, sometimes Coach Breitenreiter said it is ok but often he is not very pleased with his defensive line.
