Eintracht Frankfurt - FSV Mainz 05

Statistic:

- FSV Mainz is unbeaten in the last 4 matches against Frankfurt (3-1-0).
- In the first 7 matches were FSV winless against Eintracht (0-2-5).
- Frankfurt won 4 of the last 6 home games and kept 4 times a clean sheet.
- Mainz won 2 of the last 3 road games and 5 of the last 9.
- Frankfurt has a hard programm, as they must play against higher placed teams.
- In all these matches they got only 5 Points out of in first half of the season.

Frankfurt miss Anderson, Kittel, Rode, Oczipka and Schwegler all injured.

FSV has not so many problems and they miss only long term injured players like Baumgartlinger, Wetklo, Müller.

Some changes in team from Frankfurt because with Meier and Russ returning two players from injury and suspension and they should be immediately in starting lineup. Also Djakpa can play although he trained only on the bike under the week as he had some problems. On the other side Frankfurt did very hard at home in first half of the season but this was only due to their EL matches. They invested a lot in these and therefore the league was not their best competition anyway but this has changed now. After the winter break they started winning at home too and this put them away from relegation trouble at the moment. With 8 Points ahead to the red zone it is more as safe in my eyes but of course some Points are needed anyway to be 100% safe. They played not bad at least and they had some bad luck too in Wolfsburg last weekend where they should have won or maybe get a point at least.

Mainz should be prepared for this Derby and they did and do a great job so far, according to the position at the moment they are close to get an international spot. Only 1 Point behind Gladbach and this is nothing at the moment as we have still 6 Rounds to go. If they want to hold the target alive they have to try to get here at least a point to stay in the race. I am sure that Coach Tuchel has some in mind and this can be some tactical things and maybe changes in the starting lineup as well because he is always ready for some surprises. The team looked very good in the past matches and they did a great job apart from the game in Braunschweig but all the other matches they showed their strength in the past. Ok, they have to wait if striker Müller can play because he has some problems under the week and is doubtful here but nevertheless they should be able to compensate this and go for the win here.

Derby time and I think that this can be very close, both teams are in good shape but I think that Mainz has not so much problems with players and they have not players who came back as Frankfurt. I think it is good that Meier and Russ returns but they missed the last matches and this is maybe not the best.
