Union Berlin - FC St. Pauli

Both teams are only four places from each other but the gap is already 9 Points. Union did well and got out of the trouble while St. Pauli is on bottom and need Points urgently. Union can with a win go a big step to be safe as soon as possible. On the other side is St. Pauli under huge pressure because some of the rivals above them are playing each other and one of them are getting points what is not so unimportant. They must try to win here, nothing else, nothing more.

After the big 0-5 defeat in Darmstadt Coach Düwel was very angry of his team and he trained a bit harder this week. According to the performance many expect some changes as well for the starting lineup. The first one is in goal but it is a must because Amsif is suspended after his red card against Darmstadt and Haas returns into the goal after 1,5 matches again. Also back in the first eleven is captain Kreilach who was suspended for the last match but should build up with Parensen the double six. Therefore Leistner is out of the team who played for Kreilach in midfield but it is not sure as the whole defensive line was very weak in last game. It can be that Düwel put up the same central back as to begin of the year which was with Leistner and Puncec. Schönheim can move then on the wing and replace Kopplin there. In offensive are also some changes possible above all youngster Kobylanski could not use his chance again and is out of the starting lineup. Overall the whole team has to improve compared to last game.

Ok St. Pauli is unbeaten since 3 games but if they play only draw they are not able to come out of the red zone, they need wins immediately to walk on faster. For this reason they have to invest a bit more in their offensive play what is not the best recently. They scored twice in Braunschweig but both goals came from defender. A small uptrend was last match as a offensive player scored the leading goal against FSV. This gives back some hope and trust to their offensive line again. Also big hope is on new winter signing Sobota who had muscle problems but is ready now. He should bring some fresh wind over the wing. For him on bench must Maier who has a big mistake against FSV and was not at his best level anyway. All the other positions remain unchanged because the alternatives are less and Lienen counts again on the team he trusts lately.

A tricky encounter, Union is on bad shape and produced a lot of mistakes lately while St. Pauli is not the best in defensive anyway. I count on the home power from Union and their fans which push all way. This can lead in a great atmosphere and the player like to play there. Union try to make their fans happy after the huge defeat again and play a more offensive style what gives St. Pauli space for counter attacks. Additional St. Pauli can not go for a draw here, they have to invest much more and go for the win in their situation. The goals will come for sure here ……
