MATCH PREVIEW
MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN
Duisburg pulled off a shock result in the league last week, claiming a point against high-flying Cologne in a 4-4 draw at Schauinslandreisen Arena, but they followed that up with a disappointing 4-0 loss away at in-form Paderborn last weekend. On home soil, the side have won only three times this season in the German second division, drawing once and losing ten times. However, Torsten Lieberknecht’s side have sealed two of those home wins in their last five home league meetings, along with ony draw and two defeats. This is maybe the last chance for the rock-bottom team to get back in the race for survival against fellow relegation candidates Sandhausen. However, seven points separate these two sides, with Sandhausen currently one place above the drop zone.

Sandhausen are in excellent form, winning four and drawing one of their last five matches in the German second tier. They have in fact not lost a league game since a 3-0 home defeat against Aue at the beginning of March. Last weekend, Aleksandr Zhirov, Nejmeddin Daghfous and Andrew Wooten were the goal scorers in a 3-1 win against Dresden at Hardtwald Stadium to move three points clear of the relegation zone. However, away from home they have had a lot of problems in the league this season, accumulating only 12 points from their 14 road trips.

Duisburg need to put a winning run together if they want to remain in the second tier next season. Sandhausen, meanwhile, will be looking for a positive result this weekend too, after a very good run lately. This could be close, but with Duisburg really feeling the pressure, my money is going on a rare home win.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO - HIGH
Duisburg’s last three league matches have seen 18 total goals combined while Sandhausen have scored in each of their last five league fixtures. With that in mind, I expect to see plenty of total goals in this important relegation clash.

HEAD TO HEAD
Duisburg have won two and lost one of their three league meetings with Sandhausen on home soil.
