1.FC Nürnberg - SC Freiburg

I wrote already two weeks ago about Nürnberg and nothing has changed so far. They are still on a good way but only with small steps, although they were beaten only once this year, but could only booked one win too. However, they have already played 3 times draw, and therefore are not big jumps possible. On the other side they are one of the team with the longest unbeaten run in league at the moment. Of course they want continue like this but it is very hard if they do not find the right balance in offensive. Out of the game is less, they are too dependent on Kioytake's free kicks because with their large strikers they were always able to create some dangerous opportunities but you can not count always on only free kicks. On the other side they looked much better on the road as at home as they have some problems with deep standing teams. They have not the weapons for this kind of play they need some space for their wings otherwise it is very hard for them to create and score anyway. They played two EL starters in the past two matches and could not use the advantage of the better fitness or freshness, no they need a lot of time to come into the match and put some pressure on. Of course they started good against Stuttgart but were not able to get dangerous and on the other side Stuttgart took the lead, with Esswein came the turnaround in Nürnberg’s play and they are much more dangerous now, and in the following period they were able to equalize and got a draw in the end. For the upcoming match it would be not as easy for them as they have a very hard nut to crack and they have to invest much more if they want to win against Freiburg.

One of the surprise teams this season is for sure SC Freiburg beside newcomer Eintracht Frankfurt. They are very hard to play and their coach did a great job so far. He understands it very good so far to find the right tactic in every match and to motivate his players very well. In addition, he knows better than any other tactical tricks to use and prepare his team very well for the upcoming match. Their defensive worked very well in the past matches and they are very hard to beat or in other words they conceding less. Upfront they have some good players who can create some and get dangerous as well. They have no real striker but their system is well balanced and with Kruse and Rosenthal are always some upfront to provide some unrest. Although it was a very tough struggle against Frankfurt last weekend but they were after initial problem closer to win than Frankfurt. The problems came only because of the tactical finesse of coach Veh, who just had to replace two key players and switched to a diamond, thus beginning Freiburg came heavily into play, but got it controlled. Frankfurt’s dangerous offensive did not exist as the defensive from Freiburg made a really good job and if they used their two big chances upfront they should have won this but draw was deserved as well.

Overall this should be a very close match but I can not see that Nürnberg has the weapons to overcome Freiburg easy. They do hard to score anyway and therefore it would be hard to go through such a good defensive from Freiburg. In this case they have to invest a lot or much more and maybe neglect their defensive more and more, this should be used by Freiburg. Also Nürnberg rarely wins at home and on the other side Freiburg is hard to beat on the road, additional stats are on Freiburg’s side too. In this case I am very confident about Freiburg today. GL
