Jahn Regensburg - FC St. Pauli

St. Pauli to pull off win over strong hosts

TEAM NEWS

Jahn Regensburg's Oliver Hein and Sebastian Nachreiner are both out with a knee injury while Jonas Fohrenbach is out with an ankle problem. However, coach Achim Beierlorzer can still choose from a good squad for this league encounter.

St. Pauli's Marc Hornschuh, Waldemar Sobota, Park Yi Young and Luca-Milan Zander are all injured and will not be available against Jahn Regensburg. The suspended Johannes Flum will not make the trip either.

MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

Jahn Regensburg were starting to slip down the league table, but their 3-2 victory away at strugglers Magdeburg two weeks ago put them back on track and they are now sitting in seventh place with 20 points. Prior to claiming those three points, Achim Beierlorzer’s side had gone four league games without a win, drawing all four. Overall they are unbeaten in their last eight league fixtures in the second tier which is a new record in the club's history, winning four of those and drawing four.

Markus Kauczinski’s St. Pauli were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Heidenheim at Millerntor before the international break. With only four points separating them from leaders Hamburg, the side have enjoyed a strong season so far and have lost only one of their last eight league matches, drawing two and winning five. They are also unbeaten in their last four league fixtures on the road (three wins, one draw) and will be looking to grab another away win here.

Jahn Regensburg have been on a great run of late and they will no doubt do their best to frustrate St. Pauli. However, given the visitors' recent form on their travels, I’m siding with an away win in this one.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO – HIGH

Jahn Regensburg have been involved in highly entertaining league matches recently, with two of their last three featuring five and six total goals respectively. Overall, their 13 league matches have averaged 3.4 total goals. I can see plenty of goals between these two sides too and predict a high-scoring league encounter.

HEAD TO HEAD

Jahn Regensburg have won their last two league meetings against St. Pauli at Continental Arena.
