SC Freiburg - VfL Wolfsburg

What a mess this season for Freiburg so far. They played really well in their last matches and they invest a lot but the outcome was not much so far. Last weekend they did a great job in Gladbach where they made it as hard as they could for the home team but in the end Gladbach had maybe one good offensive action and this one ended with the winning goal. In all the other periods of the match Freiburg was more as equal as so often if you stand at the bottom you have the luck not on your side or some other problems. During the week they had a cup game against Leverkusen, they did also very well and outplayed Leverkusen almost. But as always, the one team force and the other sit back and go for counter attacks. Leverkusen had incredible one shot on goal in second half and with this shot they scored the winning goal and they advanced to next round. All in and around Freiburg are more than pissed off about this situation but they made it Leverkusen easy in first half with a huge mistake from midfield player Höfler who allowed with his pass Leverkusen an easy goal. They bounced back invest a lot but was the loser. Also Leverkusen's Coach Hyypiä said that the better team has lost today. Nevertheless they have to do better in the upcoming matches and they should put all the good things out of this match and bring it on this one. They are not as bad as the table position shows. They are by far a good Bundesliga team and they play well too. The only problem is that the outcome stands in no contrast of their investment.

Every season Wolfsburg showed two faces, this season they are strong at home while they suck away from home. Last season it was different to this one. Therefore always the same level maybe, but they have a great squad with great players and a lot of budget because with the big concern of VW in his back. Overall they can do things on the transfer market what others are not able to do. This should help them to be one of the better sides in Bundesliga but they do not often show this. They have a lot of trouble always in its season. A weaker one was under the week where they had a lot of luck but above all the help from Ingolstadt's keeper otherwise they would not have advanced to next round. With two incredible faults allowed Özcan Wolfsburg the win. Nevertheless the did very hard and they did not know how do crack this good defense play from Ingolstadt. This is maybe some problem at the moment. They are by far better playing against teams who try to control the game as they get much more space then. If you take a look against what teams they have lost Points it is more as understandable. It was against bottom side from Braunschweig and average Hamburg, both at home, on the road we have Hannover, Leverkusen, Mainz, Nürnberg and Bayern Munich. Of course these teams are all good home teams apart form Nürnberg.

If I compare both teams according to their Cup matches it is clear that I have to go with Freiburg here. I was very pleased about the good play against Leverkusen while Wolfsburg looked awful. More as this, they are not a team who can outplay Freiburg here above all away from home where they were not able to win more than 29% of their matches in recent three seasons. Therefore I do not understand that they are such huge favorite here, ok, it is only up to table position but I believe in Freiburg's strength today. They have an absolutely great record against Wolfsburg at home. In all recent 10 meetings they lost only one and this was last season. With this HC on Freiburg I am very keen on today and this is a very good position we get.
