MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

After losing two league matches on the bounce, Michael Oenning’s Magdeburg have secured back-to-back league victories for the first time this season. Having beaten Aue 1-0 at MDCC Arena, the team recorded another 1-0 win over Ingolstadt on the road last time out. Despite those two positive results, the side are still dangerously close to the relegation zone, sitting only one point above the bottom three.

Holstein Kiel’s results have improved drastically of late, with Tim Walter’s side winning six, drawing four and losing only one of their past 11 league fixtures. Last weekend, the side picked up a valuable 2-0 home win over in-form Jahn Regensburg. The Storks' impressive run of results has lifted the club up into fifth in the table, only three points behind St. Pauli in second, but they lost 1-0 at home against top-flight side Augsburg in the German cup in midweek.

This could be a close one, but Magdeburg have the home advantage and seem to have a bit of momentum on their side. I’m backing them to come out on top.

Magdeburg have scored more than once in only three of their ten home league games. Meanwhile, the last three meetings between these two at MDCC Arena have seen two total goals of fewer. I think we will see another low-scoring affair this weekend.

Back in September, Holstein Kiel have won the teams' most recent league encounter 2-1 at Holstein Stadium. Prior to that, the teams met four times in the third division, with both winning once and two draws.
