MATCH PREVIEW
MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN
No side in Germany’s second tier has drawn more league games than Union Berlin’s ten so far this season, but their last draw dates back to early December with the team winning two and losing two of their last four league outings in the meantime. Last week, they fought back from two goals down against fellow promotion candidates St. Pauli but conceded the winner in the final seconds of the league match through a penalty, losing 3-2 on away turf. However, at Alte Forsterei they are still unbeaten, winning seven and drawing three of their ten home league matches.
Sandhausen remain in the relegation zone, despite beating Bochum last weekend. They produced a decent display at Hardtwald Stadium, cruising to an easy 3-0 win over Bochum in front of their own fans. Sandhausen had not won since seeing off lowly Ingolstadt by a 4-0 scoreline in late October, drawing five and losing four of their following nine league games.
Union Berlin will be looking to bounce back in a bid to climb back into the top three. I’m backing the hosts to nick this one at Alte Forsterei.
SECOND PREDICTION: ODD/EVEN - ODD
Union Berlin have won their last three home league encounters against Sandhausen by one goal. Meanwhile, Sandhausen’s last three defeats have also been by a one-goal margin. Back odd total goals to be scored in this league clash.
HEAD TO HEAD
Union Berlin have lost only one of their last six league meetings with Sandhausen, winning four and drawing one.
