MATCH PREVIEW
MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW
Holstein Kiel are one of the in-form teams in the German second tier at present. The Storks shocked Bochum away at Vonovia Stadium last time out, cruising to a 3-1 victory. Since losing 2-1 at home to Bielefeld in the middle of December, Holstein Kiel have been proving that they have what it takes to be considered promotion contenders this season, winning three and drawing three of their last six league fixtures. Sitting in fifth, they are trailing third-placed Union Berlin by only two points.

Union Berlin followed up their 3-2 away win over rock-bottom Duisburg with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at home against Bielefeld last weekend. Occupying the promotion/relegation playoff spot, the team are definitely on the right path and have lost just one of their past five league fixtures (three wins, one draw).

Only two places separate these two evenly-matched sides in the table, so I’m expecting a close matchup in the north of Germany. Back this to end in a draw.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO – HIGH
Holstein Kiel have scored five goals in their last two league outings while Union Berlin have netted six goals in their last three league matches. I fancy this to be a high-scoring league encounter.

HEAD TO HEAD
Union Berlin are unbeaten in their last three league meetings against Holstein Kiel, winning two and drawing one.
