Both were promoted to 1.Bundesliga 17 month ago but returned immediately to 2.Bundesliga what was a bad experience for them. After returning to 2.Bundesliga both were handled as promotion candidates from some experts but only Greuther Fürth could stand this pressure and are on the top while Düsseldorf had a lot of problems and the results were not in their favor and according to all the bad things they stand in danger zone at the moment, far away from any promotion sit. Overall Fürth has the opportunity today, to get the lead back from Cologne if they get a draw here.
The start was good but only result wise, the play was more as awful and they were not able to improve in recent weeks. Therefore it is more as disappointing what Düsseldorf brought on the pitch above all their scoring effectivity is low with only 9 goals in 9 matches so far. This maybe explain all where they have to work but if you can not create some you never will be able to win matches. For Coach Büskens this game is very important as he was former Coach from Fürth but was fired after a long disappointing run last season. Compared to the last match vs. FSV Frankfurt 0-0 Büskens has some more options now as with defender Latka returns and important player who stands for solid work but maybe he will be rested again. Also midfield player Schmidtgal recovered from injury and is back in the squad against his former club. However, it is the first time for him this season, but probably will be on bench first. A bit different is the situation from Axel Bellinghausen who was out for some weeks now but returns immediately into the starting eleven again as he can give a lot with his fighting spirit and push the team with his passion. Finally Charlison Benschop is back too but does not yet feel fully fit and will therefore only be Joker. Some personal surprise, however are possible in starting lineup as with Halloran or Gartner Coach Büskens has some weapons in the back. Both did well in training and can be options here but we have to wait what Büskens plans today.
After two convincing victories against Union Berlin 4-2 and Dynamo Dresden 4-0 Fürth can be very self confident in Düsseldorf today. It is more likely that they start with an unchanged lineup here. Both Zoltan Stieber and Florian Trinks were in excellent shape and should put Düsseldorf’s defensive line before some problems anyway. Above all Stieber found back to his level he had some years ago. He makes the difference in Fürth’s play at the moment. Since important striker Djurdjic got injured they have some problems on this position as Azemi is good but could not replace him equal. Maybe this is a small weak point in their team. Also central midfield player Sukalo who is important additional will be out with injury again but he was replaced well from Fürstner last Monday already. Nevertheless Fürth seems in good form at the moment and should be very hard to beat anyway.
